Alabama A&M Vs Middle Tennessee Expert Betting Predictions

Written by on September 1, 2016

While the majority of college football fans are going to be focused on what is happening with the Power 5 conference teams this season, there are going to be other who will be keeping an eye on what’s happening in the lesser conferences. These are teams that are never going to be part of the playoffs or a National Champion, but who will be playing for conference titles and hopefully a spot in a bowl game. There will be a ton of lesser conference games played all across the country in Week 1 of the college football season, and we are going to shine the spotlight on one of those today. We have the Middle Tennessee Bulldogs of the C-USA hosting the Alabama A&M Bulldogs of the SWAC this weekend, and it’s the Blue Raiders who are going to be the betting odds favorites for this one. They actually have a solid opening week record going on over the past few seasons, but let’s take a closer look at both teams in this one.

Bulldogs Vs Blue Raiders Winning Predictions & TV Info

When: Saturday, September 3 at 7 PM EST Where: Floyd Stadium, Murfreesboro, TN. TV:  ESPN Live Stream: NCAA Live NCAAF Odds: TBA

Why bet on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs?

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs are coming into this season having recorded 3 straight losing seasons, thanks in large part to a lack of any real depth at the major positions. Alabama A&M finished last season at 3-, and only had 10 senior players on their roster. A big part of their issues came on offense, as both of their QB’s combined for a completion rate of just shy of 44%. You really can’t expect to inflict a lot of damage offensively when you are putting up stats like that. The Bulldogs have filled out their roster a little better this year, but this still looks like a team doomed to another losing season.

Why bet on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders?

Week 1 has been good to the Blue Raiders over the past 3 seasons, as they have won every year, and have come away with a combined score of 176-45. Middle Tennessee finished 7-6 last season, with the final loss of the year coming against Western Michigan in the Bahamas Bowl. This is a team that is not just looking to improve this season, as their goal for the year is to finish on top of the C-USA East division, which is something that they have a legitimate shot of doing. Thy have a number of starters returning this year, and that experience is what should allow them to take a bit of a step forward in their conference.

My Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Blue Raiders have the majority of their starters returning on defense, and that could spell bad news for a Bulldogs team that struggles to move the ball. I think we are looking at a blowout win for the home team here.
