Outside of the playoffs, there is no bigger date on the college football calendar than Championship Weekend. Not only do we get to find out who the best team in every conference is, we also get to see which 4 teams will be competing for the National Championship. Outside of the Pac 12 game, the other Power 5 title games could all have an impact on who gets in and who misses out. The one team that appears to be in total control of their own destiny are the Georgia Bulldogs, although control is a relative term when the next game up is the Alabama Crimson Tide, the reigning champions in college football.

 

The SEC Championship Game is a repeat of last year’s National Championship Game and we can only hope that it is as entertaining as that one was. Most folks, the bookies included, have Alabama in as an overwhelming favorite, but I would not be sleeping on the Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide are in as a 13 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 64.

We all may be talking about it, but coach Smart and his team are fully focused on the future, not the past. The key to victory is to keep Tua and the Tide offense off the field, which Georgia can do with their run game.
