There may not be a more hostile environment than Death Valley at night in Baton Rouge. Arguably one of, if not the greatest coach in college football history, Nick Saban will take his Alabama Crimson Tide into a hostile environment as they’ll take on Brian Kelly and his LSU Tigers. Here’s a preview of the game for your NCAA Football bets.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs LSU Tigers College Football 2022
Alabama comes into this one with one loss, and they know that they can’t afford to lose another game if they want to stay in the hunt for a National Championship. Kelly started off slowly, but the Tigers have come a long way since Week 1 of the season.
LSU has been plagued by inconsistency all season. So we’re not sure if we’re going to see the LSU that destroyed Ole Miss or the one that was embarrassed by Tennessee.
Let’s take a brief look at each team, and then we’ll give you our prediction for this key SEC West battle.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Bryce Young won’t be winning a second-straight Heisman Trophy, but he’s still had a very good season. Young has thrown for over 1900 yards with 18 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Jahmyr Gibbs has been a powerful runner for the Tide and has become their lead back. Alabama’s offense has done a lot of good things this season, and they should be able to put up some points against the LSU defense.
Will Anderson is one of the best defensive NCAAF players in the country. He has been the player that opposing offenses try to stay away from. This defense hasn’t been as strong as many of Alabama’s past defenses have been, but they can still get big stops when they need to.
Coming off of their bye week, we know that the Crimson Tide will be well-prepared for LSU. The Alabama defense really stepped it up in their game with Mississippi State. We’ll see if they can repeat that performance this week.
LSU Tigers
Brian Kelly has totally revamped the LSU program. While things didn’t go that well in the beginning, the Tigers have gradually gotten better throughout the season.
After they dominated Ole Miss, many felt that the Tigers were turning the corner. We’ll see if they can use the raucous home crowd to help defeat Alabama on Saturday night.
Now sitting at 6-2 and coming off of their bye week as well, LSU will be ready for the Tide. Quarterback Jayden Daniels has been the focal point of the LSU offense.
He’s thrown for over 1800 yards with 12 touchdowns and just one interception. He’s also been very good at running the ball, as he has amassed over 500 yards of rushing with nine touchdowns. We know that the Alabama defense will be geared towards stopping him.
Ole Miss runs a similar offense to Alabama, so the LSU defense will see some familiar looks on Saturday. They’ll be geared up to stop the run first, and they’ll force Bryce Young to make some tough decisions. We’ll see if Young is up to the task.
Prediction
Alabama is a 12.5-point favorite heading into Baton Rouge. Alabama is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, while LSU is 4-1 against the spread in their last five NCAAF games at home.
We see this one being a tight one. Alabama will win the game, but they won’t cover the 12.5-point spread.
