After taking an early 14-0 lead, the Arkansas Razorbacks were well on their way to heading into their Week 5 matchup with Alabama undefeated. However, some costly turnovers caused the Razorbacks to lose their matchup to Texas A&M. Meanwhile; the Alabama Crimson Tide were steamrolling the Vanderbilt Commodores in their SEC opener.
So now the stage has been set for this huge SEC West division matchup in front of a raucous crowd in Fayetteville. Arkansas knows that if they lose to Alabama, their hopes of playing in the SEC title game will nearly vanish, while Alabama knows that this is just the first step in a trying next few weeks.
Let’s take a look at both teams, and we’ll give you our prediction for Saturday’s outcome so you can make your bets against the NCAA Football Odds.
Will the Tide Roll Over the Arkansas Razorbacks This Week? | Alabama Crimson Tide at Arkansas Odd Analysis
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is looking for their seventh straight 5-0 start. Coming off of a fairly easy game against Vanderbilt, the Tide knows that this is just the first in a string of many tough divisional games. Even though Bryce Young has already thrown for over 1,000 yards, the Alabama offense hasn’t seemed to click like it did last season. The rushing game has been a strong point of the Bama offensive attack, as the Tide is averaging over 230 yards of rushing per game.
Defensively, Alabama has one of the best squads in the country. They’re allowing just over seven points per game, while giving up just over 200 yards of offense. While Alabama hasn’t played a very tough schedule thus far, the defense has still been very impressive. Will Anderson could be the best defensive player in the country.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Sam Pittman has rebuilt the Arkansas program, and now it’s one of the top programs in the SEC. The Hogs have won their last six games at home, so they’ll be looking to defend their home turf. KJ Jefferson returned this season, and despite having some bad turnovers last week, has had a very good season. He’s thrown for nearly 1,000 yards with eight touchdowns with just one interception. Arkansas depends on its strong ground game, as they gain nearly 250 yards on the ground per game. We’ll see how the strong front line of the Alabama defense handles the rushing attack of the Razorbacks.
Defensively, Arkansas has had its issues. They’re giving up just over 400 yards of offense per game, while the opposition is scoring over 26 points per game. We’ll see how they handle the multi-dimensional Young, and the Alabama rushing attack.
Prediction
Alabama is coming into this one as a 16.5-point favorite. In looking at the betting numbers, they favor the Razorbacks. Alabama is 1-4 against the spread in their last five road contests, while Arkansas is 4-1 against the spread in its last five at home.
While Arkansas is coming off a very emotional loss, Alabama comes into this one coming off of an easy win. Emotions will be high as the Arkansas crowd will be going crazy in Fayetteville. While we think Arkansas has a shot at beating Alabama, we just don’t see it happening. They’ll keep it close, but Alabama will win the game. The Tide won’t be able to cover the 16.5-point spread.
