Alabama lost its first-ever SEC meeting with Texas A&M in 2012, 29-24 in Tuscaloosa behind a huge game from Aggies QB Johnny Manziel. That day essentially won him the Heisman Trophy. However, the Tide have won four in a row vs. A&M since and the past three years haven’t been close. In 2016, it was 33-14. Jonathan Allen, now with the Redskins, returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown in the final seconds of the third quarter to break it open. Jalen Hurts passed for 166 yards and rushed for 93 more, throwing for a pair of touchdowns while getting intercepted twice. Damien Harris rushed 17 times for 126 yards.

Why Bet On Alabama?

The Crimson Tide haven’t surrendered a touchdown since Week 3 and have surpassed 600 yards in back-to-back SEC games. Bama (5-0) comes off a 66-3 destruction of Ole Miss. Alabama’s 63-point margin of victory is the largest in the SEC in the past 10 years, and it marked the first time Alabama has had consecutive 50-point wins against major conference opponents. The 66 points scored by Alabama is the most since 1979, when the Crimson Tide downed Vanderbilt, 66-3 in Nashville, Tenn. It is also the most points in school history against Ole Miss. The Tide dominated the Rebels on both sides of the ball, outgaining Ole Miss, 613-253, while forcing two turnovers and compiling five sacks in the game. Hurts finished the game 12-of-19 for 197 yards and two scores through the air, and a team-high 101 rushing yards and a score on 10 carries to lead the Alabama offense. The game marked Hurts’ seventh career 100-yard rushing game and his third of the season. Five different rushers scored on the ground for the Tide, including Hurts. The Tide lead the FBS in total efficiency at 97.3, courtesy of ranking second in both offensive and defensive efficiency. That’s the highest total efficiency through five games in the past 10 seasons, equaling their mark in 2012. Alabama has defeated 69 consecutive unranked teams under head coach Nick Saban. The last loss to an unranked team came against Auburn to close out the 2007 season. The current streak began with a win over Colorado on Dec. 30, 2007, in the Independence Bowl. Under Saban, Alabama holds a 73-3 (.961) (69-3, .958 after vacations) mark against unranked opponents, including a perfect mark in unranked matchups since 2008. Under Saban, the Crimson Tide are 111-7 (.941) when leading at the half. Alabama led Ole Miss, 35-3, at the half and has held the lead in 29 of its last 35 games dating back to the start of the 2015 season, including 13 of 15 games in 2016 and all five games this season.

Why Bet On Texas A&M?

The Aggies (4-1) beat South Carolina 24-17 last week. Keith Ford ran for 70 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead 17-yard score in the fourth quarter. Freshman Kellen Mond threw for 159 yards and ran for 95 to help the Aggies rally for the victory. Texas A&M trailed by a touchdown entering the fourth quarter before Ford tied it up with a 7-yard run. The Aggies logged seven sacks on the evening. It marked the highest single-game tally for Texas A&M since registering 9.0 against Arizona State in the 2015 season-opener. The seven sacks against the Gamecocks is tied for the fourth-highest single-game sack total in all of FBS for 2017. The Aggies entered the contest ranked 11th in the country in sacks and have recorded at least two sacks in every game in 2017. Is Texas A&M a safe bet in Week 6? The Texas A&M defense held South Carolina to 23 rushing yards. It marked the first time the Maroon & White held an opponent under 25 rushing yards since limiting New Mexico to 21 yards on Sept. 5, 2009. Junior PK Daniel LaCamera improved to 79-for-79 on PATs for his career. It marks the longest string of consecutive PATs for an Aggie since Josh Lambo hit 108 in a row as his career ended in 2014. Texas A&M is currently ranked 41st in total offense with 448 YPG (95th in passing YPG; 14th in rushing YPG), while Alabama is ranked 14th in total offense with 509 YPG (94th in passing YPG; 4th in rushing YPG). Alabama is averaging 315.6 rushing yards per game but also have not needed to pass in their blowout wins. Texas A&M has held opponents under 100 yards rushing in 4 of 5 games this season.
