This college football season has been crazy, and last weekend’s games showed just how crazy it has been. Both Wake Forest and Michigan State left the undefeated ranks, Cincinnati barely survived, and the Georgia Bulldogs looked like an unbeatable force. With some big losses, we saw some movement in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll. We’re going to take a glimpse at the Top 10, and we’ll see how the losses affected this week’s poll so you can keep betting against the NCAAF odds.
This Week’s College Football AP Top 10 Betting Preview
The Georgia Bulldogs are once again the top team, and unless something crazy happens, they’ll remain there for the rest of the regular season. The undefeated Cincinnati Bearcats stay at the #2 spot, but voters are starting to lose patience with them. They survived their game with Tulsa, and Cincinnati hasn’t been blowing teams out as they should.
Coming in at #3 is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama still has a date with Auburn in the Iron Bowl, but they’ll meet Georgia for the SEC Championship if they win that. If Alabama loses to Georgia, they’ll drop in the polls. Oklahoma comes in at #4. They have a very tough game at Baylor this Saturday. This one will be huge for the Sooners playoff chances. If they can win this one, it could give them a boost in the playoff standings.
Oregon is #5 this week. If the Ducks can win out, they have a great shot at making the playoffs. Ohio State comes in this week at #6. They won a tough one at Nebraska on Saturday and still have dates with Michigan State and Michigan. Notre Dame is the #7 team in this week’s poll. They should go undefeated the rest of the way, so we’ll see where the committee ranks them at season’s end.
Michigan State and Michigan are #8 and #9. They’ll either move up or down as they play each other and Ohio State. Oklahoma State rounds out the top 10. They’ll face Oklahoma to end the regular season, so one of them will drop in the poll.
Betting Game of the Week – Oklahoma @ Baylor (+6)
The Oklahoma Sooners will be coming off of a bye week and will be ready for Baylor. This will be the first tough road test for Caleb Williams on the road. Baylor knows that they can’t afford to lose another one, and they know that their defense will have to hold strong against the high-flying offense of Lincoln Riley. They have one of the best rushing attacks in college football, so they’ll look to control the clock and keep the Oklahoma offense on the sidelines. We expect McLane Stadium to be rocking, and that will be a huge advantage for Baylor.
We’re not sure that Baylor can beat Oklahoma, but we will take Baylor and the points in this one. This will be a tough test for the Sooners, and if they can pass it, it may be a big win in the eyes of the College Football Playoff committee.
