AP Top 25 College Football Poll Week 2

After College Football Week 1, massive changes have already happened on the AP Top 25.

2023 ACC Champion Florida State has fallen out of the Top 25 while upstart Georgia Tech has entered the 25.

Teams like USC and Miami showed they’re title contenders while LSU showed it has work to do.

Florida State Loses Its First Two Games of the Season and Falls Out of the Top 25

The Seminoles weren’t supposed to miss a beat.

Yes, Florida State lost defensive end Jared Verse and terrific quarterback Jordan Travis from an undefeated team, but Mike Norvell landed transfer DJ Uagielelei and plenty of other talent.

Losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College, two ACC rivals, in their first game has Seminole Nation reeling.

FSU’s schedule doesn’t get easier with games against Memphis, California, SMU, and Clemson coming up.

A turnaround must happen against those four teams or the FSU season is lost for sure.

Miami Shows It’s Back After Thrashing Florida in The Swamp

Miami’s return to national prominence happened this past Saturday when Cam Ward, the former Washington State quarterback, blistered the Florida Gators in The Swamp.

The Hurricanes showed no mercy in a 41-17 victory over Bill Napier’s Florida squad.

Ward threw for 385 yards and 3 TDs.

Cam also rushed for 33 yards.

The Miami QB is a legit Heisman Trophy candidate.

Also, Mario Cristobal’s defense was fantastic.

As far as Florida is concerned, things have gotten worse not better.

Napier’s days leading one of the most storied programs in college football are numbered.

The Gators were supposed to show some signs of improvement but instead floundered in every phase of the game.

Florida is straight up bad.

USC Jumps Ten Spots After Upsetting LSU in Vegas

Knowing his defense was in issue, USC head coach Lincoln Riley sat down with former UCLA defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn and convinced the defensive genius to join his staff.

Acquiring Lynn to run USC’s D was the coup of the offseason.

Lynn’s D held Brian Kelly’s offense to a staggering 20 points in an impressive 27-20 USC victory.

Moss Miller, who had the unenviable job of replacing Caleb Williams at quarterback, came up big.

Miller threw for 378 yards and a TD when completing 75% of his passes.

USC is for real, which is why the AP jumped the Trojans from 23 to 13.

Bama, Ohio State, Texas, and Georgia Prove They’re Title Contenders but the Jury is Out on Oregon

Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and Georgia all proved they can win the National Championship.

Georgia impressed the most, destroying Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers squad 34-3.

The other four teams beat up unranked opponents.

One team in the Top 5 last week failed.

Oregon didn’t lose to the Idaho Vandals, but they didn’t play well, either.

The Ducks headed into the NCAAF season ranked third in the nation.

A 24-14 victory over Idaho is close to shameful, which is why Oregon fell four spots to 7 in this week’s poll.

Dan Lanning will right the ship.

Dillon Gabriel had a marvelous game but the Ducks couldn’t get the ball into the end zone.

An impressive victory over Boise State, one of the top non-Power 4 Conference teams in the nation, on Saturday should attract college football experts and fans back to the Ducks’ bandwagon.

Previous Betting News

Week 1 of the NCAA Football season ends with games on Sunday Night and even a final game on Monday. It’s time to look ahead at Week 2 of the NCAA Football season.

Let’s take a look at the best Week 2 games to bet on from the Associated Press Poll Top 25 Ranked Teams.

Best Week 2 Games to Bet On From AP Poll 25 Ranked Teams | MyBookie Regular Season Betting Preview

2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season | 154th season of college football in the United States
NCAAF Week 2: September 5th – September 11th, 2023

13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at North Carolina State WolfPack

NCAF Odds: Notre Dame -7.5 at North Carolina State +7.5 / Notre Dame -309 at North Carolina State +240 / O/U 50.5
Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00 PM | ABC
Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, NC

Both teams are coming off wins. The Irish are looking for their third straight game.

Quarterback Sam Hartman will be familiar with the Wolf Pack, as he spent his time at Wake Forest going against them. The Irish will be tested by a talented defense and an offense that will care for the football.

The game is in Raleigh, where you know they will be hoppin’ ready to spring an upset. The last time these two teams met was in 2017, and the Irish won that one big, so revenge is on the mind for the program.

25 Iowa Hawkeyes at Iowa State Cyclones

NCAF Odds: Iowa -4; Iowa State +4 / Iowa -177; Iowa State +144 / O/U 36.5
Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 3:30 PM | ESPN2
Yulman Stadium, New Orleans, LA

It’s a state battle between the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones. The Hawkeyes are ranked 25th in the latest Associated Press Poll. Iowa is coming off a win at home over Utah State. After starting slow, the offense faltered quite a bit down the stretch.

For Iowa State, they looked pretty effective in a three-touchdown win over Northern Iowa. This is an excellent test for both teams, but taking the Cyclones and the points seems to be a wise move.

22 Ole Miss Rebels at 24 Tulane Green Wave

NCAF Odds: Ole Miss -7.5; Tulane +7.5 / Ole Miss -284; Tulane +224 / O/U 62.5
Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 3:30 PM | ESPN2
Yulman Stadium, New Orleans, LA

Two Top 25 teams get together in New Orleans. The Rebels were impressive, scoring 73 points in their season opener.

This Ole Miss will have no problem putting puts on the board this season. Their opponent Tulane went a little different round, holding their opponent to 17 in the 20-point win.

This should be a great football game that Tulane will be very excited for—a chance to put themselves bigger on the map. Look for a fun game, which is a one-score game in the end.

11 Texas Longhorns at 4 Alabama Crimson Tide

NCAF Odds: Texas +7; Alabama -7 / Texas +230; Alabama -294 / O/U 55
Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM | ABC
Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL

Two of the top programs in College Football will meet up in Tuscaloosa. It’s the Longhorns and the Crimson Tide. The Longhorns are not ranked, but very easily could be.

Alabama is coming off that 56-7 pointing at home over Middle Tennessee. These two teams played a season ago, and it was a one-point game. The Longhorns do not have the same talent as they did a season ago.

Look for Alabama to continue to move the football while the Longhorns stall out one too many times and the Crimson Tide win by double digits.

19 Wisconsin Badgers at Washington State Cougars

NCAF Odds: Wisconsin -6.5; Washington State +6.5 / Wisconsin -239; Washington State +191 / O/U 54.5
Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 7:30 PM | ABC
Martin Stadium, Pullman, WA

It’s a big early-season test for the Badgers from the Big Ten. Heading to Pullman will take a lot of work. The Badgers lost this game at home a season ago, 17-14.

That was before some of the needed were done with the Wisconsin offense. The Badgers would like revenge, but Wisconsin being favorites here seems backward. The Cougars win this game at home.

Stanford Cardinals at 6 USC Trojans

NCAF Odds: Stanford +30; USC -30 / Stanford +1075; USC -3030 / O/U 70.5
Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:30 PM | FOX
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA

This is not the Stanford Cardinals team of old. But it’s a USC team that can score the football. The Trojans have played in two games this season, averaging 61 points per game.

Caleb Williams continues to throw the ball all over the field. The Trojans cannot get caught looking ahead, as they have back-to-back road games at Arizona State and Colorado following this.

2022 NCAA Football Betting Analysis: AP Poll 25 Rankings Update After Week 2

Previous Betting News

After Week 2, we’ve seen some changes in the polls. With ranked teams not only losing, but also playing some close games, the voters have done some maneuvering. We’re going to take a look at both the AP and the Coaches Poll, and we’ll compare some of the differences between each so you can continue betting against the NCAAF Lines.

This Week’s College Football Top 25 Breakdown Heading Into Week 3 of the 2022-23 Season

The Top Spot

Our first difference in the polls starts at the top. After Alabama’s near-loss to the Texas Longhorns, the AP voters have moved the Georgia Bulldogs to the top spot. Georgia shut out Samford on Saturday, and after their thrashing of Oregon in Week 1, the AP pollsters felt that the Bulldogs deserved the top spot. Georgia took 53 votes for the top spot, while Alabama only garnered 9.

On the other hand, the coaches still feel that Alabama is the top team. The vote was fairly close, with Alabama getting 39 first-place votes, while Georgia received 25 votes for the top spot. The coaches usually don’t make a lot of changes when a team plays a close game.

More Top 10 Differences

The next difference is at the #4 spot. The Coaches Poll has the Clemson Tigers sitting at #4 and Michigan at #5, while the AP pollsters feel that the Michigan Wolverines belong at the fourth slot, and Clemson at #5. The AP voters took into account that Clemson had issues beating Georgia Tech, while the Wolverines ran through their first two opponents, making things look very easy.

USC has risen up the polls, and the AP voters have the Trojans at #7 and the Oklahoma State Cowboys at #8, while the coaches have the Cowboys at #7 and USC at #8. Lincoln Riley’s squad has looked dominant in their first two victories, while Oklahoma State has played well, but hasn’t been as dominant as USC. We need to keep an eye on USC, as the Pac-12 hasn’t looked strong early in the season. If USC can run the table in the conference, it will be hard not to put them in the College Football Playoffs.

The AP Poll has the Kentucky Wildcats coming in at #9, the Arkansas Razorbacks at #10, and the Michigan State Spartans at #11. The Coaches Poll has Michigan State at #9, Kentucky at 10, and Arkansas at 11. Kentucky has been impressive early in the season, and they just won a huge game at Florida last Saturday. Arkansas started the season off with a big win against Cincinnati. Michigan State hasn’t played any competition as of yet, so we’ll have to wait and see how good they truly are.

#13 Miami Hurricanes @ #22 Texas A&M Aggies Betting Analysis

Mario Cristobal will play his first big game against Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M. The Aggies are coming off of a devastating upset against Appalachian State. The Canes head into College Station as a 5.5-point underdog. While the Aggies have one of the most talented groups of recruits in the country, Fisher has yet to get them to the level that many have expected.

We’re going to go out on a limb here, and take the road dog in this one. We think that the Aggies will still be in disarray, and this will be the game where Miami announces to the nation that “The U” is back.
