In college football, there are some huge programs who you know will be up there competing every single year. These schools are able to recruit the best players in the nation, essentially guaranteeing that they will be able to fill the inevitable holes that come each year when the best players head off to the NFL. There are some players that are tougher to replace than others, though, which is usually at the QB position for most programs.
Elite QB’s are not that easy to find, so replacing one tends to be a little trickier than filling other positions. That was the position that the Oklahoma Sooners found themselves in coming into this season, as they needed to be able to get a player who could fill the large shoes that Baker Mayfield vacated. Kyler Murray has been able to fit into that role quite nicely, although he will only be a one-season starter, as he will be off to the MLB with the Oakland A’s after this season is over. Murray will get another chance to show off his skills this Saturday when the Sooners host the Army Black Knights as a 31 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 63.
While that number may have you shying away from Oklahoma here, you should also consider that they have covered in 12 of their last 15 homes games, although few of those spreads will have been as big as the one they need to overcome here. The thing to consider in games like these is that the Sooners will almost certainly have this thing won early on, which will mean putting in second and third string guys as the game progresses.

The Black Knights saw their season get off to a rocky start with a loss to Duke, although as a 13 ½ point underdog, it wasn’t totally unexpected. They have bounced back quite nicely, though, putting together back to back wins and going 1-0-1 ATS in those outings. Army has not exactly been lighting things up offensively through their opening 3 games, averaging 26 PPG, and while their defense has been relatively stout, they will not have faced an offense quite like what Oklahoma is bringing to the table.
