The Tigers routed Kent State 55-16 last week by rushing for 467 yards and six scores. JaTarvious Whitlow gained 135 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. Shaun Shivers and Joey Gatewood each rushed for 102 yards. It’s the first time since 1983 a trio of Auburn rushers has topped the 100-yard mark. Kam Martin added 71 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.
Quarterbacks Bo Nix (one) and Gatewood (two) added rushing touchdowns. The Tigers averaged 7.5 yards on 62 carries. On Auburn’s first three touchdown drives, 18 of the 22 plays were designed running plays. It was clear what the Tigers were trying to do.
“When we’re running the football and we’re playing with pace, that’s when we are at our best,” Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said. “It opens everything else up. So I thought it was a really good night. And I think more than anything, it was just a commitment to run the football. You saw that. We were very committed tonight, and I know that helped.”
For the second straight week, Auburn senior Marlon Davidson the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week award. Against Kent State, Davidson tallied 2.5 sacks and six tackles.
This week, wide receiver Seth Williams and offensive lineman Prince Tega Wanogho practiced, but Malzahn said they’re still not back to normal. Williams, who injured himself while making a catch against Tulane, got back out on the field for the first time since that game. Malzahn said Wanogho, who didn’t play against Kent State and seemed to be favoring his right leg, was in the same situation. Not clear if they will play Saturday.

He needs three passing TDs to become the eighth Aggie to reach 40 passing scores. Texas A&M has scored double-digit points in 43 straight games.
