Georgia Heading into the Game

Undefeated with a flawless 12-0 record, the Georgia Bulldogs enter the game with aspirations of claiming their third consecutive college football championship. Despite facing challenges in recent matchups, they now confront their toughest opponent of the season. Alabama, with an 11-1 record, aims to redeem their lone loss to the Texas Longhorns.

Rising to the eighth spot in the latest rankings, a victory on Saturday would provide considerable momentum. Alabama seeks its 11th SEC Championship, while Georgia endeavors to secure its fifth conference title.

The Georgia Bulldogs are -6 for the game, and -210 on the moneyline. Alabama is +175 on the moneyline, must either keep the game within four points or secure an outright win. The over/under betting line is set at 55.5. Despite the traditionally defensive nature of SEC Championship Games, both teams possess offensive firepower, making the outcome less predictable.

Alabama Crimson Tide’s Offensive Weapons

The Alabama Crimson Tide have athletes all over the field. Jalen Milroe started his season slow, but his numbers have been on the rise. The signal caller has over 2,500 passing yards, with 21 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on the season.

Milroe has thrown the football to Jermaine Burton and Isaiah Bond more than any other two players combined. Burton leads the team with 749 yards and 7 touchdowns, while Bond has 39 receptions, for 542 yards and four touchdowns. The running game for the Crimson Tide is anchored by Jase McClellan. The running back has 166 rushing attempts, for 803 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Milroe has also done damage with his legs. He is second on the team with 126 carries, 439 yards and 12 touchdowns.

On the defensive end, Alabama has 12 interceptions, and forced five fumbles on the season. The defensive unit for Alabama has one touchdown on the season.

Georgia Bulldogs with another Loaded Roster

The Georgia Bulldogs are looking for a three-peat, led by head coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs have a loaded roster of players with Brock Bowers at the front of the list. Bowers missed some time this season, but still remains the top receiving threat for the Bulldogs. The tight end has 51 receptions, 661 yards and six touchdowns.

Along with him, Dominic Lovett, who came over from Missouri has 49 receptions for 552 yards and three touchdowns. The Bulldogs are always known for their ability to run the football. The 2023 version of that has Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton leading the way. Edwards has 147 carries to 99 for Milton, but they have a combined 1400+ rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.

Carson Beck, the signal caller for the Bulldogs have just 8 sacks and thrown just 6 interceptions this season. Keeping the ball moving forward and taking care of the ball is a big part of the game plan for the Bulldogs.

The defense for the Bulldogs is led by the 3.5 sacks from both Jama Dumas-Johnson and Mykel Williams. Georgia has forced 12 interceptions and recovered a fumble on the season. The defense has not been super offensive, but continues to get the job done and forcing opponents to miss their chance at the end zone.

Game Plans on Both Sides

Known for their defensive prowess, the Georgia Bulldogs have demonstrated the ability to shut down opponents when they need to. The key to victory lies in shutting down the run and applying pressure to Alabama’s quarterback, Jalen Milroe. Quarterback Carson Beck has added a new dimension to Georgia’s offense, contributing 3,495 passing yards and six touchdowns.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe’s impressive season includes 2,526 passing yards and 21 touchdowns, complemented by playmakers like Jermaine Burton. While the defense has been inconsistent, Alabama aims to be aggressive on both ends to challenge Georgia. Concerns are out there over the potential absence of running back Jase McClellan due to injury.

Turning Points?

Both teams have their turning points in the season. The Georgia Bulldogs have been the top team in College Football all season. They did have a stretch of games in November where they beat Missouri, Ole Miss and Tenenssee in consecutive weeks. All three of those teams are ranked in the Top 20.

One could argue that the turning point for Alabama was last week against Auburn. Without that win, the Crimson Tide are not thinking about the College Football Playoff picture.

But, in Week 3, the Crimson Tide scored just 17 points against South after losing to Texas. Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide offense was on the verge, but a win over Ole Miss sparked them, and the Crimson Tide actually spent three games in a row with 42+ points per game.

SEC Conference Odds for Georgia vs Alabama | Georgia Tops Alabama in SEC Title Game

Despite Alabama’s momentum, their recent close call against Auburn and potential offensive setbacks make it challenging to envision a high-scoring game on Saturday. Georgia’s consistent ability to secure victories, coupled with their balanced performance on both sides of the ball, suggests they are poised for success.

We think the Georgia Bulldogs win this game and cover the spread. A bet on the Under 55.5 total points seems to be the right play as well.

NCAA Football SEC: Georgia Favorite & Smart Pick, LSU Longshot Choice

Previous Betting News

The Southeastern Conference is the premier college football conference in the country. Each year, the conference sends at least one representative to the College Football Playoffs. When talking about the SEC, football is always the first thing that comes to mind. So when you’re talking SEC football, more than likely, Alabama will come up in the conversation. Last year’s National Champion is considered to be the top program in all of college football. Even though there are a few schools that are right there with the Tide, they have yet to eclipse Coach Saban’s program.

When looking at some of the odds to win the SEC, we’re going to tell you who our favorite is, who would be a smart pick and a team that you should take as a longshot. Here are our picks for the Southeastern Conference so you can start planning your bets against their College Football Conference Championship odds.

Odds to Win the 2021 SEC Conference Championship – Favorite, Smart and Longshot Pick

Is This Finally the Year?

Even though the oddsmakers think that Alabama will win the SEC again this season, we’re going to go with the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama comes in at -125, while the Georgia Bulldogs are a +250. Kirby Smart has been knocking at Alabama’s door, but he’s been able to get into the building. This could be the year that he finally gets in.

Georgia has a boatload of talent on this year’s squad. Quarterback JT Daniels is one of the top signal-callers in the country. Georgia will be able to run the ball behind a stellar offensive line. The Bulldogs will also have one of the top defenses in the nation.

We think that Georgia will breeze through the SEC East and will meet up with Alabama in the SEC Title game. This could finally be the year that former Alabama assistant Smart will knock off his mentor.

Geaux Tigers!

When thinking about a smart pick, we’re going to go with the LSU Tigers at +1200. Even though last season was a disaster in Baton Rouge, we think the Tigers will rebound well. They have two very talented quarterbacks with an arsenal full of weapons at their disposal. Defensively, they should be better, as they have a very talented group, and Bo Pelini is no longer in charge.

We know that in order to win the SEC West, LSU has to get through Alabama. If Alabama’s new set of players doesn’t gel immediately, we could see the Tigers upset them.

Don’t Count Out the Wildcats!

Kentucky is a basketball state, but don’t tell that to Mark Stoops and his Kentucky Wildcats. Stoops has built the Kentucky program into a very respectable team in the SEC. The oddsmakers don’t think that they’re a real threat this season, as they’ve put them at +6000 to win the SEC.

Most of Kentucky’s tougher opponents are at home this season, which could be a huge help. However, they still have to get through Georgia, and then knock off someone from the East. It’s a long shot, but if everything falls into place, the Wildcats could pull off an upset of epic proportion.

2019 SEC Championship Odds, Predictions & Picks

Previous Betting News

Alabama and Georgia are expected the dominate the SEC. The Crimson Tide is a huge -150 favorite to win the deepest conference in football. The Bulldogs are a +270 second choice. From there, the odds go to quadruple digits with both Florida and LSU at +1200. Check out the SEC Championship odds and analysis!

2019 SEC Championship Odds, Predictions & Picks

Which team, Alabama or Georgia, has the best chance of winning the SEC?

This is not an easy question to answer. Alabama will start the co-Heisman Trophy favorite at quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. Tua had a monstrous season, his first as a starter in Tuscaloosa. Save for a bad performance against Clemson in the National Championship, Tagovailoa tore it up. However, the Crimson Tide must replace most of the offensive line. Not only that, but the defense has new starters as well.

Does that open the door for Georgia to win the SEC? Georgia has talent, no doubt, but all that talent must translate to victories on the football field. The Bulldogs will have one of the top offensive lines in the nation. Quarterback Jake Fromm, though, must find new wide receivers to throw to because UGA’s top three WRs exited after last season. There’s also the chance the defense isn’t as good even though it’s supremely talented.

Georgia’s defense doesn’t have a lot of starter experience. The secondary, especially, could be vulnerable this season. The problem is that even two losses in the SEC could derail conference championship hopes and Georgia has three games that could lead to disaster: at Florida, at Auburn, and versus Texas A&M.

Then, if they end up in the SEC Championship, they must beat Alabama. The Bulldogs have a tougher road to the title game, making Alabama the better play.

Which +1200 to +2500 team has the best shot of winning the 2019 SEC Championsip?

LSU will be very good this season. They aren’t good enough to beat Alabama or Florida, though. They might even lose to Texas A&M. LSU’s odds should be closer to +2000 than +1200.

Texas A&M has a dark horse shot of taking the SEC Championship. The Aggies are much improved, but they play in the tough SEC West Division. Not only that, they’ve battled both Alabama and Auburn at home and finish the season at Georgia and at LSU. That’s a brutal conference schedule.

The team that has the best shot of winning the SEC Title outside of Georgia and Alabama are the Florida Gators. Florida battles Tennessee, Auburn, and Georgia at home. They battle LSU, Kentucky, Missouri, and South Carolina on the road. Florida can win the SEC this season.

Is their dark horse at +3300 odds or higher that can take the 2019 SEC Championship this season?

Mizzou is a good team, but they’re not bowl eligible. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey must invite the Tigers to play in the SEC Championship even if they win the SEC East, a big if because they’d have to beat Georgia and Florida. That means Missouri is a tough dark horse to back.

South Carolina is the only real dark horse to consider. Make no mistake, the Gamecocks are a massive longshot to make it to the SEC Title Game. The schedule is brutal: versus Alabama, at Missouri, versus Kentucky, at Georgia, versus Florida, at Tennessee, and at Texas A&M. There’s a chance the Gamecocks lose all 7 of those games.

South Carolina returns 16 starters overall, though. That alone gives them a better shot than Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Vanderbilt to win the SEC Championship. Will they do it? Most likely not, but if you’re looking to back a major upset team with great odds, South Carolina is the team to back.

Best Early 2018 SEC Championship Odds

Previous Betting News

The Southeastern Conference, SEC for short, is the most powerful college football conference in the nation. Every season, the SEC produces the top teams in the nation. Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia are College Football Playoff Contenders. Does that make them good pick in the odds to win the SEC Championship?

Because of how deep the SEC is, a team can lose out on even making it to the SEC Championship and still end up winning the National Championship. That’s exactly what happened with Alabama last season.

Check out odds on teams to win the SEC title along with early bets that make the most sense.

Best Early 2018 SEC Championship Odds

Top Pick:  Alabama Crimson Tide -110

Alabama is the heavy favorite to win the SEC Championship this season. Surprisingly, their odds of -110 makes the Tide an overlay to win the title. Why? Since 2008, Alabama has won 6 SEC Championship Games. Auburn has won 2. Both LSU and Georgia have each won a single SEC title

The odds should be at -150 or worse for Alabama to win the SEC Championship this season. There a single event that occurred last season that isn’t likely to occur this season. The event is Alabama losing to Auburn. Auburn hasn’t beaten Alabama in back-to-back seasons since 2006-2007.

Alabama lost to Auburn last season. That means, the Crimson Tide beats rival Auburn this season. Alabama’s lone loss last season was to Auburn. Take away that loss and Alabama would have gone undefeated in 2017.

Who’s the Better Pick:  Florida or Georgia?

If we discount Auburn’s chances at +650 and don’t believe LSU manages to beat both Alabama and Auburn in the SEC West, we’re down to two teams with a chance of winning the SEC Championship from the SEC East, Florida and Georgia.

Are the Gators, or are the Bulldogs the better pick?

Georgia made it all the way to the National Championship Game last season. The Bulldogs pushed Alabama in overtime before succumbing to the pass heard round the world. Many college football handicappers are bullish on Georgia repeating their CFP climb.

But, the Bulldogs must replace a lot of starters on defense. Not only that, they lost their top two rushers from last season, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, to the NFL.

Florida, on the other hand, hired one of the best coaches in college football in Dan Mullen. Mullen’s squad is deep at QB with Feleipe Franks, Luke Del Rio, and Malik Zaire battling it out. The defense was an excellent unit last season. It should be an excellent unit this season.

Florida is the likeliest winner of the SEC East, meaning they’ll have the best shot of upsetting Alabama for the SEC Championship.

What SEC Dogs Can Upset Alabama, Florida and the Rest?

The lone SEC team that could upset Alabama or Florida and win the SEC Championship are the South Carolina Gamecocks. The reason? Will Muschamp’s squad is trending higher.  The Gamecocks won 9 games last season. They beat Michigan in the Outback Bowl.

South Carolina will play an up tempo offense this season. The defense had to replace some pieces, but Muschamp is a great defensive-minded coach. The Gamecocks could surprise.

Best Early 2017 NCAAF SEC Title Bets and Expert Predictions

Previous Betting News

If you’re talking about the SEC and college football, then surely you know that there’s Alabama – and then there’s everyone else!

Despite losing the 2017 national championship, not only are the Crimson Tide expected to repeat as SEC champs this coming season, but they are once again, the prohibitive college football betting favorites to win the 2018 national championship. Let’s find out why the Tide are the SEC and national championship favorites and whether or not one of their longtime conference counterparts could pull off the conference title upset for the ages.

Analyzing The Best Early 2017 NCAAF SEC Title Bets and Expert Predictions

Alabama -190

The Crimson Tide lost a bunch of talent on the defensive side of the ball with defensive end Jonathan Allen and linebackers Reuben Foster, Ryan Anderson and Tim Williams all taking their talents to the NFL, along with sure-handed tight end O.J. Howard.

Still, Alabama Crimson Tide has a bunch of five-star recruits waiting in the wings to replace their departed stars and a gifted dual-threat quarterback in sophomore Jalen Hurts that looked really special to me a year ago as a true freshman. The Tide also have a great 1-2 combination at running back in Damien Harris and Bo Scarborough that will once again be the foundation for Alabama’s offensive success. Unless they somehow manage to lose two conference games (they won’t), all roads to the SEC championship will go through Alabama whether you like them or loathe them.

LSU +400

With the no-nonsense Ed Orgeron entering his first full season as head coach, I’m expecting LSU to have a powerful defense that will help them challenge for the conference crown – at least, for a little while. Running back Derrius Guice is a superstar just waiting to happen, but I’m not completely sold on quarterback Danny Etling. The Tigers will also have a new offensive system under first-year coordinator Matt Canada. The Tigers will be very good in 2017, just not good enough to beat out Alabama for the conference crown.

Auburn +580

LSU may be the No. 2 pick to win the SEC as far as oddsmakers are concerned, but I like Auburn as the No. 1 threat to Alabama’s stranglehold on the conference. The Tigers got a player that could lead them to surprising heights in talented sophomore quarterback Jarrett Stidham, a transfer from Baylor. LSU also has an experienced offensive line returning, a pair of outstanding running backs in Kamryn Pettway and Kerryon Johnson and a talented group of receivers for Stidham to throw to. The Tigers lost a pair of stud defensive linemen and safety Johnathan Ford, but they return one of the nation’s best linebacker units and All-SEC cornerback Carlton Davis.

Georgia +580

I’m going with Georgia as my No. 2 pick behind Auburn to upset Alabama, even though oddsmakers have the Bulldogs as the No. 4 pick on the board. Not only did the Dogs post a positive 8-5 record in Kirby Smart’s first season with the team, but they also suffered three losses by a field goal or less. I like quarterback Jacob Eason and running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, not to mention the fact that Georgia returns all 11 starters on the defensive side of the ball.

Florida +800

Florida has won consecutive East Division titles and could make it three straight in 2017 thanks to the addition of former Notre Dame graduate transfer signal-caller Malik Zaire, a talented receiving unit and a gifted running back in Jordan Scarlett. While Florida returns just three starters on the defensive side of the ball, new defensive coordinator Randy Shannon inherits a unit that finished the 2016 campaign ranked a stellar sixth in points allowed (16.8 ppg).
