Why Bet On Boise State?

There are a bunch of great reasons to back the Broncos in this matchup starting with the fact that they’ve won five straight games including an emphatic 56-21 blowout win over Utah State last weekend. There’s also the fact that Boise State also has another big goal they’re looking to complete. The Broncos are seeking to go unbeaten in conference play for the first time in its nine seasons in the Mountain West.

“To have a chance to go undefeated in conference play for the first time in Mountain West history for Boise State, to me, that’s a challenge in itself,” Broncos coach Bryan Harsin said this week. “When you get a chance to talk about doing something for the first time, if that doesn’t fire you up as a competitor, something is wrong with you.”

Boise State is also the better statistical team by far, on both sides of the ball in averaging almost 10 points per game more than the Rams while allowing nearly 10 fewer points per game defensively.

Team Statistics

Offense:
  • Average Score For: 37.91
  • Total Yards: 457.45
  • Pass Yards: 273
  • Rush Yards: 184.45
Defense:
  • Average Score Against: 21.27
  • Total Yards: 346.18
  • Pass Yards: 228.82
  • Rush Yards: 117.36

Why Bet On Colorado State?

Outside of the fact that Colorado State is playing at home and getting almost two touchdowns, there just isn’t any good reasons to believe the Rams will cover the chalk in this one. The Rams have dropped two straight and come into this contest off a discouraging 17-7 road loss against Wyoming last weekend. Colorado State allows a generous 31.2 points per game to rank an uninspiring 32nd in points allowed nationally. The rams have won a paltry seven games the last two seasons under lame duck head coach Mike Bobo.

Team Statistics

Offense:
  • Average Score For: 28.45
  • Total Yards: 442.73
  • Pass Yards: 306.73
  • Rush Yards: 136
Defense:
  • Average Score Against: 31.18
  • Total Yards: 380.45
  • Pass Yards: 175.09
  • Rush Yards: 205.36

Boise State vs Colorado State Expert Analysis and Prediction

I wouldn’t waste a whole lot of time worrying about Boise State covering the spread as nearly two touchdown road favorites. The Broncos have put a whopping 98 points on the board over their last two games while Colorado State has scored a grand total of 28 points over the same two-game stretch. That fact, in and of itself, suggest a blowout win for Boise State in this one.  The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Colorado State and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings overall. The Favorite is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meeting while the Road team has gone 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings. With all sings pointing to a rout, I say back the Boise State Broncos big here!

Pick: Boise State 42 Colorado State 20
