Bowling Green vs Oregon College Football Preview

Written by on August 28, 2018

It doesn’t matter whether you play an easier opponent or one of the best teams in the game, it’s always important to get off to a positive start in college football. This is one sport where there is very little room for error, as one loss can hurt a season, while two can totally kill it. Every team in the PAC 12 is starting the season feeling some serious pressure, as the conference did not send a team to the playoffs last year, plus they were totally awful during bowl season. The Oregon Ducks were one of the top programs in the game a few years back, but saw their stock drop dramatically over the past few seasons. They took a bit of a step forward last season, with the expectation being that they can continue to progress this season. The Ducks are in as the #21 ranked team in college football prior to the start of the new season, which they will get rolling this coming Saturday as a 31 ½ point favorite over the Bowling Green Falcons. The point total for this one is set at 74.

Why bet on the Bowling Green Falcons?

Last year was something of a disaster for the Falcons, as they went just 2-10 on the year, with both of those wins coming on the road. You don’t need to be a math major to see that their big issues came on the defensive side of the football, where they gave up 38 PPG and over 250 YPG both through the air and on the ground. They were able to score over 25 PPG, but when you are giving up that many points on any given week, your chances of getting some positive numbers in the win column drop dramatically. The Falcons were a little more competitive on the road than at home last season, going 3-4 ATS on the road while failing to cover in all 5 games at home. Each of their last 5 games have gone OVER the point total.

Why bet on the Oregon Ducks?

The Ducks took a little step towards respectability last season, posting a winning record at 7-6. They finished the regular season strong, winning back to back games and posting 117 points in the process, but they were unable to get the job done in their bowl game against Boise State, losing that one 38-28. The Oregon offense was solid last season, averaging 36 PPG and racking up over 250 YPG on the ground. That latter start could be very problematic for a Falcons run defense that resembled Swiss cheese last season. The Ducks went 6-1 SU at home last season, covering the spread in 5 of those wins. 5 of their 7 homes games also went OVER the point total, which, when added to the point total stats of the Falcons, suggests that we could see some scoring on Saturday.

Bowling Green vs Oregon NCAAF Pick and Series Prediction

There is really no doubt that the Ducks are going to get off to a winning start this coming weekend, it’s all more about the margin of victory. I like the Ducks to stroll to victory, covering the spread and hitting the OVER in the process. College Football Betting Pick: Bowling Green Falcons 20 Oregon Ducks 55
