Clemson Tigers 2019 Season Win / Loss Total Odds & Betting Prediction

Written by on June 24, 2019

After throttling the perennially powerful Alabama Crimson Tide to claim last year’s national championship and their second in the last three seasons, Dabo Swinney’s now equally powerful Clemson Tigers will enter the 2019 college football regular season looking to repeat as national champs – and if it happens at Alabama’s expense, that will almost certainly make it even better for the reigning ACC and national champs.

More importantly, you’re about to find out whether the Tigers are going to top their 2019 Over/Under total or come up just short of doing so.

Clemson Tigers 2019 Season Win / Loss Total Odds & Betting Prediction

  • 2020 National Championship Odds: +160
  • 2019 Win Total Odds: –11

2018 Team Leaders

  • Touchdown: Travis Etienne (26)
  • Rushing: Travis Etienne (1658)
  • Passing: Trevor Lawrence (3280)
  • Receiving Justin Ross (1000)
  • Interceptions: A.J. Terrell (3)

Why Bet On Clemson To Go Over 11 Wins?

The best reason to back Clemson to top their win total of 11 victories is because the Tigers have won 12 games or more in each of the last four seasons while recording 14 wins or more in three of those campaigns including last season’s perfect 15-0 mark.

The Tigers also return arguably the best quarterback in the nation in gifted sophomore Trevor Lawrence and a gifted running back in Travis Etienne that averaged 8.1 yards per carry. Not only that, but Lawrence has some outstanding talent at the wide receiver position starting with sophomore Justyn Ross, but including players like Tee Higgins and freshmen Joseph Ngata and Frank Ladson Jr. Clemson finished fourth in scoring (44.3 ppg) and they just have too much talent on the offensive side of the ball for that figure to drop off much, if at all, in 2019.

Why Bet On Clemson To Finish Under 11 Wins?

There’s probably only one reason you’d pick the Tigers to finish under 11 wins and that would be because you’re skeptical that Dabo Swinney is going to find suitable replacements for the multitude of stars he lost on the defensive side of the ball. Clemson lost at least seven starters from a defense that led the nation in several categories, including points allowed (13.1 ppg), total tackles for loss, sacks, scoring defense and fewest rushing yards allowed per play.

Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, cornerback Trayvon Mullen, defensive end Clelin Ferrell and linebacker Tre Lamar all left early for the NFL while defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, defensive end Austin Bryant and linebacker Kendall Joseph have used up their eligibility.

Still, Clemson is brimming with young talent all over the place and Brent Venables’ units have ranked in the top five nationally in yards allowed per play four times in the past five seasons. Not only that, but Clemson got back a trio of players that all could have bolted for the NFL in linebacker Isaiah Simmons and safeties K’Von Wallace and Tanner Muse.

Prediction

Clemson has owned their ACC counterparts the last few years and I see that being the case again in 2019. I don’t see anyone beating Clemson at home this coming season and the Tigers’ five road dates against Syracuse, North Carolina, Louisville, NC State and South Carolina just don’t look very daunting.
