I think we can all agree that the college football playoff has been a success since being introduced back in 2014. We can also agree that it might be time to expand the setup, which is what is currently being discussed. The main issue is that we are consistently seeing the same teams make it into the final four, with Alabama and Clemson very much at the top of the list. Heading into last season, the Clemson Tigers had been in the playoffs in 6 straight seasons, so the expectation was that they would be there again. An opening week loss to Georgia put them behind the 8-ball, with the Tigers going on to lose 2 more games over the course of the season. It was a rough start for a new QB trying to fill the huge shoes of Trevor Lawrence, but the Tigers looked as though they were putting it together at the end of the season, winning 6 in a row, which included a bowl game. Their win total is set at 10 ½ this season, which suggests that the bookies think they will bounce back. Let’s see if they can so you can bet against their College Football Regular Season Wins Odds.
Clemson Tigers 2022 Season Betting Prediction: Win/Loss Record
Tigers Regular Season
Unlike last season when the Tigers got a tough opening week challenge against the Bulldogs, their schedule looks a good deal easier in the early going. They open up with a neutral venue game against Georgia Tech, an easy win, before heading home to face Furman and Louisiana Tech. The Tigers will then close out the month of September with a tricky road trip to face Wake Forest. Still, Clemson should be sitting 4-0 heading into October.
Things get a good deal tougher in October, starting with a home game against NC State. That should be a win, but things will not be so easy in the next couple of weeks, with road trips to face Boston College and Florida State. Those are both winnable games, but they are certainly not of the slam dunk variety. They close out October and head into a bye week with a home game against Syracuse. Clemson has had issues with the Orange in recent years, but they should still get through this one.
Heading into the bye week, I think there is a very good chance that the Tigers will still be unbeaten. That might change in their first game back, as they need to go on the road to face Notre Dame, a team that could well be in the playoff conversation. On the plus side of things, Clemson close out the regular season with a trio of games on home field. Those games come against Louisville, Miami, and South Carolina.
Regular Season and Beyond
Looking at the 2022 schedule for the Clemson Tigers, I think there is a very good chance that they could go unbeaten. At the very least, I think they are looking at an 11-1 season, although we do need to remember that they struggled at times last season. I like Clemson to win the ACC and very much be in the playoff conversation, and barring major injuries, I am taking them to go OVER the 10 ½ win mark.
