College Football Over Under Picks For Week 5

Written by on September 27, 2016

The great thing about wagering on sports is that there is a way to bet that suits every style and budget. One of my favorite bets is the OVER/UNDER, as I feel it gives me one of the best opportunities to win. The simple fact of the matter is that if you can win 53-54% of your point total bets, you are going to be in profit. The beauty of college football is that there are a ton of games played every week, which means multiple opportunities to hit that elusive winning percentage. I have had a quick look ahead at the Week 5 games in college football, and have identified a few that might end up on my betting ticket. Keep in mind that the totals have not yet been posted for these games, so keep an eye on the live odds before you play.

A Closer Look At The College Football Over Under Picks For Week 5

Stanford Cardinal at Washington Huskies – UNDER

This Friday night game represents a great opportunity to get your weekend off to a winning start. These are a pair of Top 10 teams that are looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season, and I think that means that both will be a little tentative at the start. The Stanford Cardinal have been winning on defense this season, having given up only 36 total points through their opening 3 games. They are giving up less than 100 yards per game on the ground, which is bad news for a run first Huskies team. The previous two meetings in this series have gone UNDER, and I think this one will too.

Memphis Tigers at Ole Miss Rebels – UNDER

The Ole Miss Rebels restored order with a thumping of the Georgia Bulldogs last week, and will be looking to keep things rolling against Memphis this coming weekend. With all the offense that the Rebels put on the board, you would think that they would routinely pass the OVER threshold, but that is not the case, especially when coming in as a favorite. Their OVER/UNDER record as a favorite is 0-2 this year, and 4-17 over the past 3 seasons. That very much points to the UNDER here.

Northwestern Wildcats at Iowa Hawkeyes – OVER

I have a feeling that the point total for this one is going to be set pretty low, especially given that these two teams have a combined OVER/UNDER record of 1-7 so far this season. That’s the sort of trend that usually has bettors eyes light up, but I think the bigger thing to look at here is how things have gone in previous meetings between these two teams. They have met in each of the last two seasons, and it has been the OVER that has prevailed each time, with an average of around 53 points put up in those games.

North Carolina Tar Heels at Florida State Seminoles – OVER

Both of these teams are coming into this one knowing that nothing less than a win will do. Having a pair of losses at this early stage of the season will not do, so expect both teams to come out gunning. Both of these teams have been involved in high-scoring games though the opening weeks of the season, and have a combined OVER/UNDER record of 6-1. I expect a bit of a shootout here, and that usually means that the OVER wins.
