Written by on August 31, 2017

Saturday is when most college football odds fans will be sitting down to enjoy a full day of Week 1 action, but why wait when there are a slew of good games to bet on over the next couple of days. There are several good games set to go on Friday night, and one that jumps right off the page is the meeting between the Colorado State Rams and the Colorado Buffaloes. Let’s take a closer look at each team NCAA football betting odds and lines, as well as how I think this one might play out.

Analyzing the Colorado State Rams vs. Colorado Buffaloes College Football Odds

There is nothing quite like a good in-state rivalry to get things started, and while it has been the Buffaloes who have dominated this match-up in recent years, let’s not forget that the Rams already have a game, and a win, under their belts this season. Last year’s meeting between these two was definitely a one-sided affair in favor of the Buffaloes, but the bookies have this one being potentially a little tighter, with Colorado in as a 5-point favorite. There is going to be a great atmosphere inside Mile High, and I think that this game is going to be incredibly entertaining.

Why bet on the Colorado State Rams

The Colorado State Rams have already started their season, delivering a dominant 58-27 win over Oregon State. There was certainly the belief that the Rams were going to be a fun team to watch this season, with most believing that they were going to be better than their 7-6 record from 2016. What we didn’t expect to see was a team that was this physical. They laid the lumber on the Beavers last weekend, forcing 5 turnovers, which helped them run up the score in the end. If there is something to be concerned about, it’s that the Rams did not do a particularly good job of stopping the run, and you got the sense that if Oregon State had been able to protect the football, the outcome may have been different. The Rams have lost 3 of the last 4 to the Buffaloes, including a rather lopsided 44-7 pounding last season, so they are sure to be coming into this game with a massive chip on their shoulder.

Why bet on the Colorado Buffaloes

It was a solid College Football odds season for the Buffaloes in 2016, ending the year with a 10-4 record. It was a solid season for the Buffaloes in 2016, ending the year with a 10-4 record. This was a team that was very good offensively last season, but they are coming into this year with a new QB, Steve Montez, under center. It’s tough to predict how he will play, but it’s fair to suggest that there will be a pretty steady mix of run and pass as the Buffaloes try to keep the Rams defense unbalanced. Oregon State were able to complete 10 of 16 3rd downs last week, which suggests that the Buffaloes might be able to inflict some real damage if they can keep the chains moving. This might also give Montez the confidence to go deep and really test the Rams secondary, which did look a little suspect at times in their opening game of the season. The Buffaloes ATS record last year was the same as their overall record at 10-4, but they are up against a Rams team that went 10-3 ATS.

College Football Odds Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I certainly don’t think that we are going to see the blowout that we did last season, and I believe that this one will be close throughout. I do think that the Buffaloes will start to pull away late, and I like them to win by a TD more. The last 2 meetings between these teams has gone UNDER, but I think this one will surpass the 66 points, as this thing could turn into a bit of a shootout.
