Bowl season is upon us, and while we are all rather impatiently waiting for the playoff games to begin, the good news is that there is a lot of football to watch and wager on before we get to the big games.
We are going to preview these lesser bowl games under the assumption that every team will be fielding their best players, but keep in mind that the NFL Draft and the transfer portal will have some players sitting things out.
Gasparilla Bowl Odds & Predictions Analysis
Make sure to check which players might skip these games before placing your wagers, as that can have an impact on the result.
For this piece, we are looking at the Gasparilla Bowl, which matches up the Tulane Green Wave and the Florida Gators.
It is the Gators who are a big favorite here, with the bookies liking them by 13 ½. The total is set at 49 ½.

Gasparilla Bowl Odds & Predictions: Tulane Green Wave vs Florida Gators
While the Gators struggling to win in the month of December cannot be ignored, this is still a game that they should win, although I am more than a little concerned about that point spread, which is why I am on Tulane to cover.
Tulane Green Wave 23, Florida Gators 31
^Tulane Green Wave Analysis and Trends
One thing to keep in mind with bowl games is that the strength of schedule is important.
The Tulane Green Wave went 9-3 this season, 2 wins better than Florida, but their strength of schedule was nothing compared to that of the Gators.
Still, you cannot immediately discount a team that has won 9 games over a season, especially in a matchup that essentially means little in the grand scheme of things.
Where Tulane has struggled is playing as the underdog, going 3-17 SU in their last 20 games with that label.
They are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, but they have failed to cover in their last 5 meetings with a team from the SEC.
In terms of the point total, they have gone 6-4 O/U in their last 10 games, so no real trends to draw upon there.

Florida Gators Analysis and Trends
Getting back to the top in the SEC is tough, as there are just so many good teams playing football in that conference.
Florida has been somewhat irrelevant in the SEC for a few years now, and while a winning season is fine, it is simply not enough for a fan base that expects this team to be in the hunt for a National Championship.
You do have to wonder just how up for this they are going to be, which makes the larger spread a little more worrisome.
They have won 6 of their last 7 games while playing as the favorite, but the fact that they are winless in their last 5 games played in the month of December is a little alarming.
They are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games, but also just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games versus teams from the AAC.
The Gators have seen the OVER, come up in 13 of their last 20 games overall.
