Why Bet on Georgia versus Florida

On Sep 30, Georgia beat Auburn 27-20. The close victory appeared to have turned the switch because in their last couple of games, Georgia has played like the defending national champs.

The Bulldogs have begun to hit their stride. The Dawgs’ 17-point victory over Vanderbilt came after a dominating 51-13 win against Kentucky. The win versus Kentucky is particularly telling.

The Wildcats entered Athens ranked twentieth in the nation and with the reputation of having one of the conference’s top defenses. All the Dawgs did was rack up 179 rushing yards. Carson Beck threw for 389 yards and tossed 4 TDs.

Georgia Bulldogs Offensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 509.3
  • Passing Yards: 337.0
  • Rushing Yards: 172.3

Why Bet on Florida versus Georgia

The Gators host Georgia playing excellent football. 3 games back, Kentucky upset Florida 33-14. Since suffering the upset loss, Florida has excelled.

In their next game after falling to the Wildcats, Florida blasted Vanderbilt 38-14. Then in their very next game, the Gators outlasted South Carolina 41-39.

Beating the Gamecocks and Wildcats and then beating Georgia isn’t the same thing. But Florida is playing well enough to keep the game closer than the spread.

Florida Gators Offensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 421.7
  • Passing Yards: 276.9
  • Rushing Yards: 144.9
  • Points Scored: 29.1
  • Turnovers: 3

Florida Gatos Defensive Averages

  • Passing Yards: 187.0
  • Rushing Yards: 124.7
  • Points Scored: 20.0
  • Takeaways: 2

Florida versus Georgia Final Betting Prediction

Florida versus Georgia will be a close, hard fought contest. Although on the surface, it looks like Georgia should have no trouble winning, a deeper look reveals that Georgia could be in for a rude awakening.

The Bulldogs allowed Vanderbilt to score 20 points. Vandy is the worst team in college football. Giving up 20 to Vandy is like giving up 35 to Florida.

Also, Carson Beck must play without his top target, tight end Brock Bowers. Bowers isn’t just the best player on UGA’s roster, he might be the best football player in the college ranks.

The All-American tight end had surgery on a sprained ankle and won’t return until late November. Without Bowers, Beck could return to his old habit of holding onto the ball too long, which might lead to a couple of turnovers.

Don’t be surprised if the Gators have a chance to pull off an upset late in the fourth. Taking the points on Florida is a no-brainer.
