SoFi Stadium In Los Angeles, California, will be the site of the 2023 College Football Playoffs National Championship game, as the top-seeded Georgia Bulldogs will square off against the #3 Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. While Georgia was expected to be here, TCU is a surprise team. Many felt that the Horned Frogs would not be able to handle the physicality of the Michigan Wolverines. Between some big plays, and some costly mistakes by the Wolverines, the Horned Frogs now find themselves in a position to win the National Championship.
We’ll take a brief look at each team below, and then give you our straightforward prediction for your Betting Odds on the championship game.
Georgia Or TCU: Who Wins the National Title?
Georgia Bulldogs
Going into the season, many felt that either the Georgia Bulldogs or the Alabama Crimson Tide would be playing for the title. With Alabama losing two games, they didn’t make the playoffs. The undefeated Bulldogs won the SEC Championship and then outlasted the Ohio State Buckeyes to make it to the final game.
While last year’s team was known for its defense, this year’s team has built a different reputation. While the defense has been good, it hasn’t been nearly as good as last season’s. Stetson Bennett has become a very good quarterback, and has been in charge of an offense averaging nearly 40 points per game. With numerous offensive weapons at his disposal, the Georgia offense has been the main reason for the undefeated season.
The Bulldogs are the more talented team, but talent doesn’t necessarily always win you the game. We’ll see if the talent and depth of the Georgia squad will be enough to beat a very determined TCU Horned Frogs squad.
TCU Horned Frogs
When you think of TCU, one name comes to mind, and that is Heisman Trophy finalist Max Duggan. Duggan had a phenomenal season and was the key to TCU’s season. Duggan along with top wide receiver Quentin Johnson should be able to put up some yardage against a Georgia secondary that has been taken advantage of in its last two games. LSU and Ohio State were able to gain 850 yards against the Georgia secondary.
Duggan is also a threat to run the ball. Georgia’s defensive line will need to keep Duggan contained in the pocket, because if they let him get to the outside, he is very dangerous running and throwing the football. We’ll see what the Bulldogs have in store to slow Duggan down.
Prediction
We know that both teams will be able to put points on the board, so we look for this to be a high-scoring affair. Both Bennett and Duggan will give the opposing defense fits. We look for Georgia to have more of a balanced offensive attack, while the Horned Frogs will look to do damage to a Georgia secondary that has been torched the last two games.
While we see this one being a close game, we think that Georgia is just too good and will overwhelm TCU. The Horned Frogs will put up a good fight, but the Georgia Bulldogs will finish the season undefeated and will win their second straight national title.
