Of course not as the Dawgs just want to get out of the game healthy and rest up for a showdown with Florida in two weeks. Series History
Georgia leads all-time 60-20-2 and 28-12-2 in Nashville. Last year, UGA rolled 55-0 at home as Stetson Bennett threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Bennett was nearly perfect in the first half, completing 18 of 20 for 211 yards. He’s now in the NFL. UGA had 579 yards and Vandy only 150. The Commodores have not scored on Georgia the past two meetings as the Dawgs also won 62-0 in 2021. The teams never played during the COVID-19 season of 2020 although it was scheduled three different times, but the Commodores were unable to play. The Commodores last scored a TD against Georgia in 2018. They have gone three full games since then without reaching the end zone.
Why Bet on Georgia?
Georgia (5-0) played its best game of the season on Saturday in beating No. 20 Kentucky 51-13. Carson Beck threw for a career-high 389 yards and four touchdowns as UGA extended its overall winning streak to 23 games. In addition, it was the Bulldogs’ 33rd straight regular-season win, its 22nd straight SEC regular-season win, and it was the team’s 23rd win in a row on Dooley Field.
Kentucky came in fresh off a 33-14 rout of Florida last week in which the Wildcats ran 329 yards, including 280 by Ray Davis, the SEC’s leading rusher. But the Bulldogs didn’t let their ground game get going, holding the Wildcats to 55 yards on the ground — just 34 through three quarters — and 183 yards of total offense. UK was limited to 13 points, finishing with 183 yards of offense on 50 plays. UK was just 2-for-11 on third down conversions.
Georgia’s offense, meanwhile, scored on all five possessions in the first half, including three straight touchdowns to start the game. The Bulldogs had more than 300 yards of offense in the first half and finished with 608 for the game, with Beck completing 28 of 35 passes. Beck is on a record pace for completion percentage at 73.47, which is ranked sixth nationally. The school record was set last year by Stetson Bennett at 68.28. The SEC record for a season is 77.4 by Alabama’s Mac Jones in 2020.
All-American and 2022 Mackey Award winner junior Brock Bowers is one of the nation’s top tight ends. He posted his third straight 100-yard game (a combined 24 rec., 410 yds., 4 TDs) with a seven catch, 132-yard performance against Kentucky that included a touchdown. Bowers is the first Bulldog to have three 100-yard receiving performances in a row since Terrence Edwards in 2002.
One of the keys to Georgia’s success this season is its third down defense. The Bulldogs are ranked third nationally with opponents converting just 24 percent of the time. The past two weeks, Auburn was just 2-for-12 on third down conversions and No. 20 Kentucky was only 2-for-11. Since the arrival of Kirby Smart in 2016, the Bulldogs have featured talented defenses and twice led the nation in Scoring Defense. This season, Georgia is ranked 10th nationally allowing 13.0 points/game.

Why Bet on Vanderbilt?
Vandy (2-5) lost 38-14 at Florida last Saturday. After Florida jumped out to an early lead, Ken Seals found Will Sheppard for an 85-yard touchdown to even the score at 7-7. The 85-yard touchdown reception matched the fourth-longest in program history. The play was the longest reception since 1992 when Marcus Wilson found Clarence Sevillian for 88 yards against Tennessee.
Sheppard finished with three catches for a season-high 107 receiving yards and a touchdown. Sheppard’s eight receiving touchdowns is third in FBS and second in the SEC. Sheppard is one touchdown away from matching his 2022 season total. No Commodore in program history has caught nine or more receiving touchdowns in a single season twice in a career. Sheppard has scored 48 points this season, eighth-most in the SEC and 26th in FBS.
Freshman wide receiver London Humphreys leads all SEC freshmen with 299 receiving yards. His three touchdowns is tied for most in the SEC by a freshman (Luke Hasz, Arkansas). Humphreys is averaging 24.92 yards per catch.
Seals got his second consecutive start of the season (18th career), finishing 19-of-34 for 276 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to Florida. It’s the first time Seals has thrown two touchdowns in back-to-back games since 2020. Even though usual starter AJ Swann has been game-ready for a few days now, Seals seemingly remains Vanderbilt’s top option at quarterback and should start this week.
Safety De’Rickey Wright is doubtful this week due to injury. He has 29 tackles and two picks this year. The Dores’ defense has eight interceptions this season, tied with Georgia for most in the SEC and fifth in FBS. Vandy’s 10 turnovers gained is second in the SEC and 26th in FBS. Wright’s team-leading two picks rank fifth in the conference and 33rd in FBS.
After posting wins over Hawaii and Alabama A&M, the Commodores have dropped five in a row, falling to Wake Forest, UNLV, Kentucky, Missouri and Florida. Vanderbilt is averaging 28.9 points per game (ppg) while surrendering 34.0 ppg. They are -3 in turnover margin.
This will be Vandy’s 11th appearance on CBS and first since facing Alabama on the network in 2017. The Commodores have faced the Associated Press No. 1 team nine times in program history. The last time Vandy hosted the No. 1 team was in September 2017 vs. Alabama.
