No. 3 Georgia (3-0) Vs No. 2 Alabama (3-0)

Georgia improved to 3-0 on the season by beating now No. 18 Tennessee 44-21 in their Week 6 matchup on Saturday to cover the chalk as a a 13-point home favorite. Sophomore quarterback Stetson Bennett passed for 238 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions to lead the way to victory while Georgia’s defense recorded one interceptions, five sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. Bennett, who was Georgia’s fourth choice as their starter before the season started, has completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 689 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.
“I honestly think he’s just himself. He doesn’t try to be someone else. He doesn’t try to artificially lead or fake it. He never did that while he was trying to compete for the job and he hasn’t done it since he got the job,” said Georgia coach Kirby Smart.
The Bulldogs average 36.0 points per game (24th) while also ranking fifth in points allowed (12.3 ppg). Georgia ranks first nationally in rushing defense (38.3 yards per game) and second in total defense (236.7). The Bulldogs have allowed just six points in the second half this season.
“Maybe the best defensive team in the country all the way around when you talk about stopping the run, having good pass defense, getting off the field on third down,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said.
Why Bet On No. 2 Alabama
Alabama improved to 3-0 by getting past Ole Miss 63-48 on Saturday. Junior quarterback Mac Jones passed for 417 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while running back Najee Harris rushed for a stellar 206 yards and five touchdowns on 23 carries. Jones leads the nation in passing efficiency with a rating of 220.3 and has thrown for a mind-boggling 852 yards over his past two games. While the Crimson Tide lead the nation in scoring (51.0 ppg), Alabama’s defense has been severely lacking in allowing a whopping 30.3 points per game defensively (44th). The Tide gave up a school record 643 yards last week against Ole Miss.
“We’ve had some guys that have made multiple mistakes; either have to get that fixed or replace them,” Saban said. “And we’re going to work in every endeavor and try to get better. Believe me, there is no one satisfied with the way we played.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction
While Alabama has won five straight in this rivalry including two straight with Kirby Smart leading the Bulldogs, I like Georgia in this contest because of their clear edge on defense. Not only that, but Georgia has gone 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings while the underdog has gone a perfect 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall while Alabama has gone 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games against a team with a winning road record and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS win. After getting exposed by Ole Miss last week, I think Alabama is ripe for a humbling home loss against a Georgia team that now has the best defense in this insanely huge SEC showdown.
Pick: Georgia 27 Alabama 21
