There are college football fans who will argue about the best conference in the sport, but most tend to, sometimes grudgingly, find themselves forced to admit that the SEC is at the top of the heap. Like every conference, there are some poor teams in there, but you also have 4 or 5, and sometimes even more, who have a legitimate shot of at least getting into the playoffs. Last season, we had a pair of teams, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs, not only make it to the final four, but also into the National Championship Game.
Those two teams are #1 and #2 again through the first 6 weeks of the season, but staying in that spot is certainly not going to be an easy task for the Georgia Bulldogs. They are on the road to the LSU this coming weekend, a team sure to still be smarting after losing to the Florida Gators and dropping out of the top 5. The Bulldogs go on the road as a 7 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 50 ½.

Why bet on the Georgia Bulldogs?
The scariest thing about this version of the Georgia Bulldogs is that they have yet to play their best football. By that, we mean that the offense and defense have not really been on the same page every week, but that may just have changed last week in a dominant 41-13 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, with 7 of the Vandy points coming in garbage time at the end of the game.
With the other results last week, the Dawgs now control their own destiny in the SEC East, but that could be put in a dispute with a loss here. Georgia has a brutal schedule over the next few weeks and they can set things up nicely by starting with a big road win in Baton Rouge. Georgia is 4-2 SU against LSU in their last 6 meetings, and they are also 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games.

Why bet on the LSU Tigers?
The LSU Tigers had put themselves in prime position for a run at the SEC West and a potential playoff spot by taking out Auburn earlier in the year, but all of that is now in doubt after losing on the road to the Florida Gators. This is essentially an elimination game for the Tigers, as there will simply be no way back from 2 conference losses, especially given how well Alabama is playing this season.
The loss to Florida last week was only the second time that LSU had failed to cover the spread in their last 10 games. During that run, they were in as the underdog on 3 separate occasions, covering the spread in all 3 of those games, including beating Auburn as a 10-point dog earlier this season.
