Houston Vs Navy College Football Winning Favorites

Written by on October 6, 2016

A big part of being able to win on a consistent basis in any sport is having the ability to stay focused when distractions are swirling all around the team. In the case of the Houston Cougars, it is their success that is leading to those possible distractions. Head coach Tom Herman has done an incredible job there, and it has not gone unnoticed by some of the bigger college football programs. There is already a rather gaping vacancy at LSU, and you can bet that some more heads are going to fall at established programs before this season is over. Herman’s name is going to be attached to all of those openings, but the word out of Houston is that all of these rumors are being severely downplayed by the coach, his staff, and the team as a whole. They certainly look to still have their eyes on the prize, as they have been one of the most consistent teams in college football through the opening 5 weeks of the season. This weekend will see them hit the road to face the Navy Midshipmen. Get the updated NCAA football lines here.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Houston Cougars Vs Navy Midshipmen College Football Winning Favorites

When: Saturday, October 8 at 3 PM EST Where: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis TV: CBS

Why bet on the Houston Cougars

The Houston Cougars come into this one with a perfect 5-0 record, and it has to be said that they haven’t really been given any kind of scare just yet. The opened the season up with a big 10-point win over Oklahoma, and they have not looked back since. They look like a shoe-in for the Big 12 title at this point, and they are almost certainly going to be catching the eye of the Playoff Committee if they continue to pile up the big wins. Houston is also a very good bet against the spread, as they have gone 4-0-1 ATS this season. The Cougars are heading to Annapolis as a 17-point favorite on Saturday.

Why bet on the Navy Midshipmen

Navy run a triple option style offense that can be hard to slow down if a team is poor against the run. That is not a label that applies to the Cougars, though, which may mean that the Midshipmen may be forced to air the ball out more than they are comfortable doing. QB will worth is completing about 58% of his passes this season, but he really hasn’t been called upon to throw the ball around the field that much so far. Having success with the run game is the only way that Navy gets anything out of this, as that will help them kill the clock and keep a potent Cougars offence off the field.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

When these two teams hooked up last year, it was Houston who came away with a 52-31 win. I think this Cougars team is even better this time around, and I believe they will top that margin of victory on Saturday.
