Kansas At Oklahoma College Football Expert Predictions

Written by on October 26, 2016

We are now at the stage of the 2016 college football season where we can seriously start talking about the legitimate candidates for a playoff spot. Only 4 teams are going to make it in, and while there is a lot of talk about postseason play coming out of some programs, a lot of it can pretty easily be dismissed as nothing but hot air. One team that still believes that they are part of the playoff picture is the Oklahoma Sooners, but with a pair of losses already on the season, their hopes of making it into the coveted final 4 look pretty slim indeed. There is still the consolation prize of the Big 12 Conference title to consider, and it has to be said that they still look like a pretty solid bet for that award. This weekend will see the Sooners host a Kansas Jayhawks side that really should be no match for this Oklahoma team, especially when you consider how the last couple of meetings have gone between these two.

In Depth Analysis On The Kansas Jayhawks At Oklahoma Sooners College Football Expert Predictions

When: Saturday, October 29 at 7 PM EST Where: Memorial Stadium, Norman TV: FS1 NCAAF Odds: TBA

Why bet on the Kansas Jayhawks

The Kansas Jayhawks got their season off to a winning start in Week 1 versus Rhode Island, but it has been all downhill from that point forward. Kansas is coming into this weekend on a 6-game losing skid, and they have really only been competitive in one of those outings, which was a 24-23 loss to TCU. There has been a lot of things that have gone wrong for this team this season, but you really have to look at the turnovers as being key. Kansas has turned the ball over a staggering 25 times in their 7 games so far this season, and you simply cannot expect to win with any kind of regularity when you are giving the opposition that many free gifts. The Jayhawk have only covered twice this season, and failed to cover in their last two meetings with Oklahoma.

Why bet on the Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners were always going to be a longshot to win a National Championship this year when you consider that their defense is giving up around 37 PPG. That’s a pretty average number for the Big 12, though, as this is a conference that is big on offense and shootout style games. You would expect them to be able to reduce that average a little this weekend with the Jayhawks coming to town, as they have only given up 14 total points in their last two meetings with Kansas. The big question here is whether or not the Sooners can cover the 40-point spread. They won this match-up by 55 points last year, so it’s not out of the question.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I don’t think there is any doubt that Oklahoma are going to walk away with the win here, but I have a feeling that they are going to come up just short on that spread.
