Last Season for LSU and Florida State

Florida State comes into the season with high hopes. Mike Norvell is starting his fourth season as the head coach of the Seminoles. A season ago, they finished the season at 10-3 and were winners of the Cheez-It-Bowl, 35-32 over Oklahoma. The Seminoles finished 11th in the Associated Press Poll. Florida State also went 5-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

For LSU, the Tigers went 10-4. After winning the SEC West, they were smacked around by Georgia, 50-30 in the SEC title game. They still got a chance to play in the Citrus Bowl and made it count.

The Tigers beat Purdue 63-7. LSU finished 16th in the final Associated Press poll. The LSU Tigers come into the game listed at -2.5 favorites over Florida State. The total for this game is at 56.5 points.

LSU Tigers Ready to Contend for Title

Brian Kelly is excited for his squad. The Tigers bring back Jayden Daniels behind center. He continued to get better and better a season ago. Daniels wrapped up the season with 2,913 passing yards and an additional 885 rushing yards.

Daniels completed just shy of 69% of his passes. His top target a season ago – Malik Nabers is also back. This will make them one of the top connections in the league, as he wrapped up with more than 1,000 receiving yards in 2022.

Also returning for the Tigers is top running back Josh Williams. While he finished the season with the most rushing yards, 532, his six touchdowns were behind Noah Cain. Cain also returns.

The Tigers’ defense will see some new names as they project to start five transfers, including Jordan Jefferson and Omar Spieghts. It may be a work in progress, but the talent from the Tigers certainly is evident.

Florida State Appears to be Back

There is no lack of talent on the Florida State sideline, either. This team will continue to get better as the season goes on. Hiring Mike Norvell has turned the program around from depths of very poor for several years.

The Seminoles plan to start four transfers on offense, including former Michigan State star Keon Coleman. Tight-end Jaheim Bell should be a great addition as well, loading up the offense for Jordan Travis behind center.

Trey Benson should get the bulk of the carries at the running back position. Last season, Benson was just 10 yards shy of 1,000 on the season. Johnny Wilson also returns. He was the top target for Travis last season and will fit in well with Coleman as a duo of receivers for the Seminoles.
