Why LSU Tigers are a good bet -24?

For years, LSU has been known as a team with an excellent defense. The Tigers pride themselves on having strong defensive players on all 3-levels. This season, although LSU does have a good defense, it’s the offense that’s leading the way.

The Tigers scored 55 in a win over Georgia Southern, 45 in the victory over the Longhorns, and 65 in the win over Northwestern State. Louisiana State figures to score at least 42 against Vanderbilt. That might be enough for the Tigers to cover the massive spread.

Team Statistics

Offense:
  • Total Yards: 552
  • Passing Yards: 436.3
  • Rushing Yards: 115.7
  • Points Scored: 55
Defense:
  • Total Yards: 302
  • Passing Yards: 221.7
  • Rushing Yards: 80.3
  • Points Allowed: 18.3

Why Vanderbilt Commodores are a good bet +24?

Although Georgia beat Vanderbilt 30-6 in their first game of the season, the Commodores didn’t play that badly. They only had a single turnover and they held Jake Fromm to 156 passing yards. The problem was the rush defense.

In the loss to Purdue, Vandy stepped up their rush defense, but they failed to stop Boilermaker quarterback Elijah Sindelar from throwing it all over the field. Now back at home versus LSU, Vanderbilt should show more consistency on the defensive side of the ball. If they can do that, they might keep this close enough for a win against the spread.

Team Statistics

Offense:
  • Total Yards: 358
  • Passing Yards: 264.5
  • Rushing Yards: 93.5
  • Points Scored: 15
Defense:
  • Total Yards: 512
  • Passing Yards: 332.5
  • Rushing Yards: 179.5
  • Points Allowed: 36

LSU vs Vanderbilt Final Betting Analysis

This is a conference game, which means both teams should be fired up. Vanderbilt played well enough to at least cover versus Georgia in their first game of the season. They had no shot of stopping the run in that one.

But, LSU is different than Georgia. The Tigers won’t rush it on every play against Vanderbilt. Instead, the Tigers will utilize the passing game because they’ve got a Heisman Trophy winning candidate in quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow completed 79.5% of his passes against Texas. He completed 87.5% of his passes versus Northwestern State.

This matchup should be like Vanderbilt’s game against Purdue except LSU’s defense dominates. What it means is that the Tigers win by 30 points at the least.
