Maryland vs Michigan College Football Week 6 Odds & Preview

Written by on October 4, 2018

In college football, it is fair to suggest that some programs are held to a much higher standard than others. These are usually the bigger programs that have made winning a tradition and who are always expected to be challenging for a National Championship. Those demands are incredibly tough on the team and the coaching staff, as everyone knows how tough it is to continually reload after losing your best players to the draft. One team that has been underachieving in the eyes of the fans are the NCAAF odds favorites Michigan Wolverines.

They are very much a sleeping giant, with the thought being that the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as head coach would rouse them from that slumber. While his tenure has not been a disaster, he has still yet to lead this team to the playoffs. If he is to do it this year, he is going to need the Wolverines to win out and get a little help along the way. Michigan can help themselves this weekend when they welcome in the Maryland Terrapins. The Wolverines are in as a 17 ½-point favorite, with the point total set at 47 ½.

Why bet on the Maryland Terrapins?

The Terrapins made headlines in the opening week of the 2018 college football season by taking out the Texas Longhorns as a 12-point underdog. Unfortunately, they have not really been able to live up to the hype and promise that followed that win and are coming into this week with a 3-1 record. Their lone loss this season was as surprising as their win over Texas, going down 35-14 to Temple in a game that they started as a 15 ½ point favorite.

The Terrapins have been used to playing the role of the underdog, as that is what they have been in 6 of their last 10 lines games. They were able to cover in half of those games, but they are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games away from home. In terms of the point total, 9 of their last 13 have gone OVER, as have 6 of their last 8 games on the road.

Why bet on the Michigan Wolverines?

Losing 24-17 to Notre Dame in the opening week of the season is by no means a disaster, but it did put the Wolverines in a very early hole. The nature of the loss was perhaps the most troubling, as big-name transfer Shea Patterson failed to deliver in his first game as the starting QB for the Wolverines. Things have been a lot better since then, though, with Michigan reeling off 4 straight wins and putting up some points in the process.
Maryland vs Michigan is going to be a great game.
Their worst effort in that stretch came last week when they were a little lucky to pull out a 20-17 win over Northwestern, a game that the Wolverines started as a 14 ½ point favorite. They are 2-3 ATS this season, but also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games at home. They have also won 15 of their last 17 home games.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Maryland vs Michigan

Last week was a bit of a wobbly effort by the Wolverines, but I think they get back on track this week in front of their home fans. I like them to win and cover here, with the point total going just UNDER.
