Why Bet the Miami Hurricanes College Football Lines at -7?

The Miami Hurricanes have only played two games so far this season because of Hurricane Irma. Miami is sitting at 2-0 after beating Bethune-Cookman 41-13 in their regular season opener, which was followed by a canceled game at Arkansas State on Sept. 9 and a postponed matchup at Florida State on Sept. 16. Miami enters this Week 5 affair coming off a 52-30 win over Toledo on Saturday in its first game in three weeks as quarterback Malik Rosier completed 27-of-36 passes for 333 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Running back Mark Walton had a phenomenal day by rushing for 204 yards and one touchdown on just 11 carries while leading receiver Braxton Berrios led the Hurricanes with five grabs for 105 yards. Rosier overcame a slow start in which he passed for just 50 yards in the first half. “He was rushing himself too much in the first half,” Miami coach Mark Richt said. “He was throwing it sooner than he had to. We were protecting extremely well. I thought his decision-making was excellent, but sometimes his feet were too fast and his brain was going a little too fast.” For the season, Rosier has passed for 550 yards with six touchdowns and one interception while Walton has rushed for a team-high 352 yards and three scores on 27 carries. “He’s a very good instinctive runner,” Richt said. “The thing that he can do, when you set a play to go a certain way and they’re defending it, he just has a great instinct to hit the brakes and find the best place to go, I guess. It’s something you can’t coach or teach.”

Why Bet the Duke Blue Devils College Football Lines at +7?

The Blue Devils beat NC Central in their regular season opener before taking out Northwestern, Baylor in Weeks 2 and 3 respectively. Duke improved to 4-0 on the season by beating North Carolina 27-17 on Saturday to cover the college football betting line as a 1.5-point road dog just as I predicted. Not only did Duke improved to 4-0 on the season by taking out the Tar Heels on Saturday, but their defense has been outstanding in not giving up more than 20 points in any game this season. Equally impressive this season is the play of sophomore quarterback Daniel Jones who completed 18 of 34 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown against Carolina on Saturday. According to the latest College Football Odds, the Blue Devils are no favorites. “He’s got the size (6-foot-5, 215 pounds), he’s got the arm strength, he’s got the mentality, he’s got the toughness,” head coach David Cutcliffe said before the season. “And this guy can run.” Cutcliffe, who coached Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning as an assistant at Tennessee and his two-time Super Bowl-winning brother Eli Manning as the head coach at Ole Miss, said his young signal-caller has a clear-cut future in the NFL. For the season, Jones has completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 904 yards with five touchdowns and just two interceptions. “Whether it’s touch or velocity or timing,” the coach said, “he’s got that kind of accuracy. Almost scary.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction

While Miami has put over 40 points on the board in each of their games this season, I have to say that I’m not overly impressed seeing as how the Hurricanes clearly beat up on a pair of overmatched programs and allowed Toledo to put 30 points on the board this past weekend. Miami may be 4-0 ATS and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall, but the Blue Devils have been impressive in going 6-0 ATS in the last six home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games in the month of September and a near-perfect 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win. I’m going with the blossoming Daniel Jones to lead the Blue Devils to the outright home win and apparently, a convincing 63 percent of public bettors agree! Pick: Miami -7
