Analyzing The Mississippi Rebels at LSU Tigers College Football Week 8 Free Picks

When: Saturday, October 22 Where: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA NCAAF Odds: LSU -9.5

Bet The Mississippi Rebels at +9.5 Because…

Mississippi Rebels (10-3 SU, 8-4-1 ATS) had a fantastic season in 2015 by recording 10 wins and being the only team in all of college football to beat national champion Alabama. Now, head coach Hugh Freeze will look to lead his team to even greater heights, though he has to find replacements for a handful of stars that all went on t the NFL. Despite losing a whopping four offensive linemen starters and gifted wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss returns six starters on offense, including surprisingly gifted quarterback Chad Kelly, a player that threw for a stellar 4,042 yards and 31 touchdowns last season. Kelly loses blind side protector Laremy Tunsil, but the Rebels are expecting true freshman Greg Little to come in and start right away, though concerns still exist along the offensive line. At wide receiver, Ole Miss is looking for Washington transfer Damore’ea Stringfellow to improve on the 36 catches he recorded in his first season a year ago while getting a bigger contribution from senior tight end Evan Engram. Running backs Akeem Judd and Jordan Wilkins both averaged more than 5.0 yards per carry in backup roles last year and are expected to provide even more in 2016. Defensively, Ole Miss lost a monster player in tackle Robert Nkemdiche and the return just five starters. Freeze must find a pair of new safeties and address what was a mediocre linebacker unit in 2015. Nevertheless, Ole Miss has recruited better than ever the last few seasons and has plenty of talent on the roster, even if they will be a bit inexperienced on the defensive side of the ball in 2016.

Bet The LSU Tigers at -9.5 Because…

LSU (9-3 SU, 6-6 ATS) underachieved in 2015, but they could be poised for a better season in 2016 – if they get better play out of the quarterback position. The loaded Tigers return nine starters on offense, including bruising running back Leonard Fournette. Still, the Tigers will go only as far as enigmatic quarterback Brandon Harris takes them. Head coach Les Miles was on the hot seat last season and rightful so after the loaded Tigers failed to play up to their talent level. LSU does return a whopping 10 starters on defense, including All-SEC cornerback Tre’Davious White and safety Jamal Adams. The bad news is that the Tigers will be on their third defensive coordinator in three seasons as Dave Aranda takes over in 2016.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Maybe it’s me, but I just don’t understand how LSU is a nearly double-digit favorite in this contest against an Ole Mss squad that can put points on the board in a hurry and has the huge advantage at quarterback. Mississippi has won two of the last three meetings while covering the college football betting line in tree of the last four meetings overall. These longtime SEC foes have split the last eight meetings evenly, but Ole Miss has compiled a blistering 7-3 ATS mark over the last 10 matchups and I believe they’ll cover the spread with room to spare in this intriguing Week 8 showdown. I say, keep it simple and play the Ole Miss Rebels to cover the spread in a thriller.

My Pick: LSU 31 Ole Miss 28
