Auburn snapped an MSU two-game winning streak in the series with a 38-14 win in Starkville on Oct. 8 last season. The Bulldogs won the last meeting on the Plains in 2015 in Dak Prescott’s final season. That was MSU’s first win at Auburn since 2007. MSU is seeking back-to-back wins at Auburn since victories in 1997 (20-0) and 1999 (18-16). Why Bet On MSU?
The Bulldogs (3-1) were pounded 31-3 at ranked Georgia on Saturday to drop from No. 17 in the AP poll. Georgia established the tone for the night very early, forcing State to a three-and-out possession on the first drive of the game. On UGA’s very first play from scrimmage, the homestanding Bulldogs connected on a 59-yard flea flicker pass for a 7-0 lead just 2:23 into the game. After forcing an MSU punt on the next drive, Georgia drove 78 yards on eight plays for another score, Nick Chubb running in from seven yards out. UGA amassed 404 yards of total offense while limiting MSU to 280. MSU star quarterback Nick Fitzgerald was held to just 83 yards passing, 47 on the ground, and was intercepted twice by the dominant Georgia defensive unit. Auburn will be the third straight Top 15 team that MSU faces. It is the only team in the nation to face three straight Top 15 teams to date. It’s just the fourth time in program history and the first since Nov. 2-9, 2013 at No. 14 South Carolina and at No. 11 Texas A&M that the Bulldogs will face Top 15 opponents in consecutive weeks on the road. In the Dan Mullen era, the Bulldogs have now been ranked for 43 weeks and back-to-back weeks for the first time since the final two weeks of the 2015 regular season. Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham leads an MSU unit that is ranked in the top 16 nationally in five categories: total defense (10th – 255.5), scoring defense (16th – 14.8), passing defense (5th – 129.0), third down defense (12th – .264) and first down defense (16th – 50). MSU is second in the SEC in scoring defense. Why Bet On Auburn?
The Tigers had no trouble beating Missouri 51-14 on Saturday. After struggling at times the past couple weeks, the offense put together its best performance through the first four games. On the first play from scrimmage, Jarrett Stidham connected with Kyle Davis for 58 yards — the longest pass play of the season for Auburn. The drive was capped by a Kerryon-Johnson touchdown run, a theme for the rest of the night. Johnson, playing for the first time since the season opener, ran for 48 yards and five touchdowns — one shy of the Auburn single-game record set by Carnell “Cadillac” Williams in 2003. As a team, the Tigers rushed for 263 yards. Stidham had another solid day through the air as he went 13 of 17 for 218 yards and threw a 57-yard strike to Nate Craig-Myers for his lone touchdown of the game. “Our goal was to rush for 200 yards, and we rushed for over 200 yards,” Coach Gus Malzahn said. “I talked about how we have to get back to being able to effectively run the football. That’s really a big part of what we do, and we were able to do that. I thought that was a big key to the game.” Daniel Carlson extended his school record to 392 career points scored, now fourth best in SEC history, passing Leigh Tiffin (Alabama, 2006-09) for fourth best in SEC history. Carlson has converted 155 consecutive PAT attempts, a school record and tied for second best in SEC history. As a team, Auburn has 182 consecutive PAT converted, the fourth longest active streak nationallyLatest NCAAF Betting Trends
