Missouri at Alabama NCAA Football Week 7 Odds & Prediction

Written by on October 10, 2018

We are now at about the halfway point of the college football season and it has already become very clear who the favorites are to be in the playoffs. The top 4 or 5 teams look to be head and shoulders above the rest, while the chasing pack is all essentially playing a game of dog eat dog. The top 4 remains in a relative state of stasis, while the rest of the top 25 undergoes some seismic shifts every single week. You can bet, though, that none of the top 4 teams are taking anything for granted right now, as there is still a lot of football to be played.

The Alabama Crimson Tide once again look like the cream of the crop, but they uncharacteristically looked a little sloppy on the defensive side of the football in a win against Arkansas last week. They will need to tighten up in a big way in Week 7 when they welcome in Drew Lock and the high-scoring Missouri Tigers offense. Alabama is in as a 28 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 75 ½.

Why bet on the Missouri Tigers?

Tigers QB Drew Lock is probably going to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft next year, so you can bet that he will want to take this opportunity to show what he is made of against the best team in college football. Missouri has been very good on the offensive side of the football this season, averaging 39 PPG, with Lock throwing for over 300 YPG. Despite all of that, this team is still only 3-2, mostly because the defense has not been able to hold up their end of the bargain.

Missouri has already played a top 4 teams this season, hanging 29 points on the Georgia Bulldogs, and covering the spread in the process, but still ultimately losing 43-29. They are coming off a tough loss to South Carolina last week and need to find a way to pick themselves up if they want to keep things close here.

Why bet on the Alabama Crimson Tide?

What can you say about the defending National Champions that hasn’t been said already? They look like an unstoppable force this season, although it can be argued that their toughest games are still ahead of them. The Crimson Tide are averaging 59 PPG, thanks in large part to the exploits of QB Tua Tagovailoa, who has been putting up video game numbers despite only playing in portions of the first 6 games.

Missouri at Alabama should be an easy victory for the Crimson Tide.

While the defense has also been good, they came in for some heavy criticism from coach Saban this week after allowing Arkansas to score 31 points on them last week. Look for them to tighten up in a big way. Alabama is 2-0 SU and ATS in 2 games versus Missouri, beating them by an average of 31 PPG.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Missouri at Alabama

Alabama is almost certainly going to win this one, but they are also likely to give up some points to a talented Missouri offense. I am going with Alabama to win, but I like Missouri to cover.
