While there are a few programs who are able to stay at the top of the college football heap for an extended period of time, there are others who appear to be in a constant state of flux. The reality is that most of the 4- and 5-star recruits want to play for titles, which means they will gladly take the offers from schools like Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia. This is not to say that the other schools don’t have a shot, but they all too often have to take the scraps and hope that they can find a few diamonds in the rough.
The Florida Gators have been on a bit of a slide in recent years, but under Dan Mullen, they look like a program ready to return to the big time. Things are not quite as optimistic in Missouri, as the Tigers look set to take a big step back next season when they inevitably lose star QB Drew Lock to the draft. Missouri is looking to finish strong, though, and will start with a trip to Florida this week as a 6 ½ point underdog. The point total for this one has been set at 57 ½.
There will be no SEC Championship appearance for the Gators this season, but you cannot deny that they have made a huge step forward in the first season with Dan Mullen as head coach. It’s a small consolation, but Florida is going to find themselves in a pretty good bowl game this season.
