For the second time this season, the Alabama Crimson Tide throw down against the Georgia Bulldogs in a championship game. The first contest was for the SEC title. The rematch is for the National Championship. Although Bama beat the Dawgs 41-24 in the first game, UGA will enter Lucas Oil Stadium a -2 ½ favorite. By kickoff, the odds could have changed so much that Bama is a -1 favorite. Keep reading why on Jan. 10 the Alabama Crimson Tide will win the National Championship so you can get ready to bet against the NCAA Football National Championship odds.

Reasons Alabama Will Beat Georgia on January 10
- The Alabama Crimson Tide has already beaten the Georgia Bulldog
John Metchie III won’t play and neither will cornerback Josh Jobe. Injuries must be the reason the Tide are an underdog against the Dawgs because if we go off what happened in the SEC Championship on Dec. 4, Alabama should win no problem.
Bryce Young threw for 421 yards, Bama rushed for 115, and the Crimson Tide beat UGA 41-24. The onus is on Georgia to do something different on Monday night. It’s not on Alabama, which means Nick Saban’s squad has an edge.
- Alabama has won 7 straight against Georgia
Sometimes, a team gets it in their head that no matter what they do, they can’t beat an opponent. Think Jets versus Patriots in the NFL.
Alabama versus Georgia is like that. Bama has won 7 straight against their top SEC rivals. Georgia last won in 2007.
The Bulldogs must get over the mental edge the Crimson Tide will bring into this game. If they don’t, if doubt creeps into their minds, Alabama will win an eighth straight.
- Bama has more offensive flexibility with backup QB Jalen Milroe
One of the lesser known players on Alabama’s roster is Katy, Texas freshman quarterback Jalen Milroe. The 6’ 2” dual-threat QB can throw the ball with accuracy some 60 yards down field.
Milroe figures to get some playing time on Monday. He can throw over Georgia’s defensive line more easily than the 5’ 11” Bryce Young. He can also provide run-pass option plays that help Bama move the ball and score touchdowns.
Milroe brings more flexibility and a new dimension to Alabama’s offense. So if Saban and offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien play Milroe, the Dawgs will have to scramble to account for his presence.
- Georgia’s best recievers are tight-end Brock Bowers and running back James Cook
The Bulldogs rarely threw to their wide receivers this season because they didn’t have to. On Monday night, they may not throw to their wide receivers because they have nobody who can beat Alabama’s coverage.
Tight-end Brock Bowers and running back James Cook are both terrific receivers. But if UGA can’t stretch the field by throwing it to their wide outs, Alabama should have an easy time containing both players.
- Kirby Smart is 0-4 versus Alabama
Kirby Smart used to work for Nick Saban, which might explain why Smart is 0-4 against his former boss. Saban knows the systems Kirby likes to employ.
It’s easy to say Georgia can change what they do, but the Dawgs don’t have the players to make big changes. Smart can’t, as an example, turn Stetson Bennett into an RPO quarterback.
So any changes on offense will be small. On defense, the only thing Georgia can really do is blitz Young. That could lead to disaster if O’Brien sets up plays to beat UGA’s blitz.
Any way we look at it, Alabama should win. On Monday night, the Crimson Tide will have no trouble not only covering the spread but also beating Georgia and winning the National Championship.
