At this time of year, many people are focused on the holidays and getting Christmas sorted, which can certainly be stressful. For sports fans, there is a great escape from the holiday season, with bowl season set to begin on Friday. Sure, some of the earlier games are not exactly of the glamorous variety, but it’s still an opportunity to watch some football and maybe win some money in the process. With that in mind, we are going all out to help you guys get into profit by quickly breaking down as many of the upcoming bowl games as possible. These games tend to be tricky, simply because they often involve teams we don’t really know too much about, plus we have matchups between teams that have zero history playing one another. It can be a challenge to win during bowl season, but that is part of the fun. For this piece, we are focusing om the Quick Lane Bowl, which is set to go on December 26 at 2:30 PM EST. It will be Bowling Green and New Mexico State going head-to-head here, with the Falcons in as a 3 ½ point favorite and the point total set at 48. Let’s take a closer look and make some College Football Bowl Betting predictions for the Quick Lane Bowl matchup.
Who is Playing in the Quick Lane Bowl? | New Mexico State Aggies versus Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview
Bowling Green Falcons
The Falcons ended the season at 6-6, and while that is not a particularly great record, this team does deserve some credit for digging out of an early hole. Bowling Green got off to a bit of a horrific start to the year, losing their opening games before going 2-4 in the first half of the season. They helped their cause by then going on a 3-game winning streak and getting the critical 6th win of the season to become bowl eligible with a game to spare. They finished 5-3 in the MAC Conference, which was not good enough to get them to the top of their division. Given that they had some lopsided losses this season, their stats do not look great. The Falcons averaged over 23 PPG, but they also surrendered an average of over 33 PPG. From a betting standpoint, they were 4-7-1 ATS and 7-5 O/U.
New Mexico State Aggies
If we are being honest, the Aggies season looked to be pretty much dead and buried after the first month of the season, as they opened things up by going 0-4, albeit with a pretty tough schedule. After that, though, they settled into a groove, going 6-2 the rest of the way. There are no conference details to deliver here, as the Aggies are one of the Independents in college football, but what we can tell you is that they may be coming into this game with some momentum on their side after closing out the regular season with back-to-back wins. The New Mexico State Aggies averaged just shy of 26 PPG on offense, while surrendering a little over 24 PPG. They were a decent ATS bet, going 7-5, while going 6-6 O/U.
Betting and Prediction
In the grand scheme of things, this looks to be a pretty evenly matched game, but I am not so sure that it will actually play out that way. This is only the 2nd time the Aggies have been in a bowl game since 1960, so they might just be happy to be there. I like the Falcons to win and cover quite handily, and I also like the OVER.
