Oregon vs Oregon State Historic Betting Trends

The Civil War is the fifth most played college football rivalry game in the USA. The game was first played in 1894 and has been contested 119 times through 2015; Oregon leads the series 63-46- 10. The Ducks won their eighth in a row in the series last year, 52-42. Oregon survived a 35-point second half by Oregon State to hang on and finish the regular season with the second-best record in the Pac-12. The Beavers rallied from down 31-7 at halftime to within three points at 45-42 in the second half, beforeBralon Addison’s fourth touchdown of the night put the Ducks back in front by double digits. Oregon running back Royce Freeman rushed for 167 yards and two scores, surpassing 100 yards from scrimmage in all 12 regular season games, the only player in the country to do so. QB Vernon Adams finished 28-of- 38 for 366 yards and three scores. Addison caught all three passing TDs, and had 106 receiving yards. Adams’ 37-yard touchdown pass to Addison in the second quarter marked the 80th straight game for Oregon with a passing touchdown, extending the Ducks’ NCAA record.

Because the Ducks are vastly superior, frankly. Freeman is one of the nation’s most exciting players. Freeman enters the start of preseason camp, slated for Aug. 8, with 3,201 career rushing yards. He would need 1,881 as a junior to match LaMichael James’ UO career record, set from 2009-11. Freeman’s 35 career rushing touchdowns are 18 fewer than James’ total from his three seasons in Eugene. The Ducks welcome back tight end Pharaoh Brown this season. Brown missed all of the 2015 season due to injury. As a junior in 2014, Brown was blossoming into an elite talent, with 25 receptions for 420 yards and six touchdowns, before being injured in early November. For the second year in a row, the Ducks will be breaking in a new starting quarterback. With Adams Jr. gone to the CFL, the Ducks imported in another FCS quarterback, Dakota Prukop, to bridge the gap until Oregon’s quarterbacks of the future are ready. Prukop is a poised veteran, but he might also be pushed by some of Oregon’s younger quarterbacks in Travis Jonsen and Terry Wilson.

Though Garretson never played for Andersen, who used to coach Utah State, he did play for then-Utah State offensive coordinator Kevin McGiven, who’s now the Beavers’ co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. So, Garretson was familiar with the system and the way in which things had been run with Andersen. Oregon State offense’s struggled to move the ball through the air last season. The Beavers finished 12th in the conference in passing offense, passing efficiency, and passing touchdowns. Oregon State was dead last in the Pac-12 by scoring just 19 points and averaging 336 yards a game. The Beavers will have new offensive, defensive and special teams coordinators this season.
