2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season | 155th season of college football in the United States
August 24, 2024 – December 14, 2024
Ranking Top 15 College Football Teams
We expect the 2024 college football season to be one of the best ever.
This is the first season that the college football playoff will have 12 teams in it.
Then, we will see how the postseason plays out, as we crown a national champion.
We are closing in on the start of the season, and today, we wanted to discuss the top 15 teams in college football.
Writer’s Picks for the Top NCAAF Teams
Georgia Bulldogs
Kirby Smart and Georgia won back to back titles, then missed out on the chance last season.
With a single loss, this season the Bulldogs would not be left out.
This is the most talented team on both sides of the ball.
They will get a big time test right out of the gate, as they take on Clemson on August 31st.
Oregon Ducks
Dan Lanning has his Ducks back and ready to compete for a title.
There may not be a program in the country with more urgency and excitement to grab a national title than Oregon.
The Ducks will get their first run at the Big Ten conference when the season starts.
Oregon battles Idaho on August 31st.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State is looking to get over the hump of their top rival the Michigan Wolverines.
Ryan Day has some big time pressure on him this season.
Beating Michigan would go a long way towards their chances to get to the college football playoff, but many other tests.
Ohio State hosts Akron on August 31st.
Alabama Crimson Tide
There is a new sheriff in town.
Nick Saban is gone, and former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer is the head coach.
DeBoer has some new players on the roster, and will bring his upbeat style to Tuscaloosa.
Alabama has a tough schedule, but will start with a home game against Western Kentucky.
Ole Miss Rebels
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss knows they have the offensive firepower to get the job done.
Out of the SEC though, can the Rebels play defense enough to contend for a title? This is going to be a loaded team, but also some big time competition.
The Rebels start at home on August 31st against Furman.
Texas Longhorns
Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns made a major move over the off-season.
The Longhorns are now a member of the SEC.
That is a big time move for the Longhorns, but their talent will be right up to task with the rest of their opponents.
The Longhorns will host Colorado State on August 31st.
Missouri Tigers
Another SEC squad.
Many overlook this Missouri team, but they have a legitimate chance to get to the college football playoff.
There is likely going to be three teams from the SEC in the playoff, and Missouri is going to be in the mix.
This is a great offensive team.
Can they play defense well enough to compete? Missouri hosts Murray State on August 29th.
Penn State Nittany Lions
James Franklin has another team that is going to be tough to score against.
Penn State was not great on the offensive side last season, but did plenty of work and added plenty of help in the off-season.
Penn State is third in the pecking order of the Big Ten, with Oregon and Ohio State setting the table.
The Nittany Lions open up their season on the road at West Virginia on August 31st.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
One of the historic favorites, the Irish will see themselves going through another gauntlet of a schedule.
Can Notre Dame breakthrough as one of the elite in college football this season? Notre Dame goes right out of the gate with a road trip to College Station to take on the Aggies of Texas A&M.
Florida State Seminoles
Florida State is going to have a big time chip on their shoulder following their exclusion from the college football playoff last season.
The Seminoles have the ability to pass it, throw it, and will always be able to defend.
The Seminoles look to grab another Atlantic Coast Conference title this season.
Florida State is at Georgia Tech on August 24th to start the season.
Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines certainly are going to be talented, but in the end, this team lost too much to really be a true national title contender.
A new coach, a new quarterback, a new look for the Maize and Blue.
Michigan will see some things even out a little this season.
The Wolverines start the season on August 31st at home against Fresno State.
LSU Tigers
Brian Kelly has another team ready to compete in the SEC.
The Tigers are going to need to be better on the defensive end.
LSU also has question marks with a new quarterback.
The Tigers are not afraid of competition, as they will play the first Sunday of the season, as they take on USC on September 1st.
Tennessee Volunteers
We like the Big Orange.
But, how many SEC teams is too many? Not every team can make the college football playoff.
These teams are eventually going to cutthroat each other.
Can Tennessee be one of the teams to make it through have a chance? They will start with a state rival in Chattanooga on August 31st.
Utah Utes
The Utes are in a little different boat.
Maybe the Utes should be ranked higher than 14th.
Utah is one of the favorites to win their new conference – the Big 12.
They get started a little earlier than some of the other teams.
Utah will host Southern Utah on August 29th.
Clemson Tigers
Dabo Swinney and his Tigers are looking to make their way back to one of the elite programs in the country.
The Tigers have got to be better and more efficient offensively.
Clemson will face a tough test right out of the shoot.
The Tigers are on the road at Georgia for a big time opportunity right away.
There you have it. When we are ranking 133 college football teams for the 2024 season, these are our Top 15.
We hope you enjoy the College Football season, and best of luck with all your college football betting!

NCAA Football AP Top 25 Poll: Best Five Teams in the Nation to Bet On the Upcoming 2022 Season
Previous Betting News
College football fans are excited for the upcoming season! Although we still have nearly two months to wait for the opening kickoff, the latest preseason rankings have been released. This week’s version isn’t even the first one, as we have already seen numerous sets of Top 25 rankings.
Let’s take a look at the Top 5 teams in the latest preseason rankings and we’ll give you some College Football Betting advice as well.
A Brief Look at the College Football Top 25
The Top 10
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
With Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young returning, the Alabama Crimson Tide is the top team in the latest set of preseason rankings. Nick Saban’s squad returns 12 starters from last year’s team. And like they do every year, they don’t rebuild, they just reload. They’ll fill the open spots with five-star recruits and stellar players from the transfer portal.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes
Ryan Day knew that his defense was the downfall of last year’s team, and he made sure to make some changes. He brought in Richard Knowles to lead their defense. Knowles came from Oklahoma State, where he turned around one of the nation’s worst defenses. They return 13 starters from last year’s team, including Heisman candidate, quarterback CJ Stroud.
3. Georgia Bulldogs
The reigning National Champions lost a lot from one of the best defenses in college football history. We know that they have many talented players ready to fill their open spots. Georgia returns seven starters on the offensive side of the ball. The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide should clash again this season for the SEC title.
4. USC Trojans
Lincoln Riley has totally remade this team. With last week’s announcement that star receiver Jordan Addison from Pittsburgh was transferring to USC, the Trojans flew up the polls. Riley brought a ton of offensive firepower with him, as he did a great job of raiding the transfer portal. The defense will be a question mark, but the schedule is very favorable, as the Trojans won’t play Oregon or Washington this season.
5. Texas A&M Aggies
After a war of words about NIL issues between Saban and Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher, more attention has been brought to Texas A&M. They should be a very talented team, but they’re in the SEC, so they could lose a key game or two that could cost them. Fisher will have to choose the right starting quarterback, as we have a three-way battle that may not be settled until their first game.
A Little Betting Advice
At 25-1 odds to win the national championship, we really like the USC Trojans as a value pick. We know that their defense could be an issue, but we think that they’ll coast through the Pac 12 and get a spot in the playoffs. We know that teams outside of the SEC haven’t had much success in the playoffs, but if Riley’s offense can put up the huge numbers that it has in the past, USC could sneak up on some of the traditional powers.

NCAAF AP Top 25 Poll: Best 6 Teams Betting Analysis for Conference Championship Week
Previous Betting News
After a wild weekend of college football action, the regular season has come to an end. This Saturday will be Championship Saturday, as the top conferences will hold their Championship games. After last week’s games, the new AP Top 25 Poll has been released. Let’s take a look at the top teams and what they need to do to make College Football’s “Final Four”. We’ll also give you some NCAAF Betting tips on one of the conference title games.
Top 25 Analysis and Betting Opportunities
1. Georgia Bulldogs
We’re finally going to get to see the game we’ve all been waiting for, as the Georgia Bulldogs will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. Georgia is in a win-win situation in this one, as if they win, they’ll be guaranteed the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. Even if they lose to Alabama, Georgia will still have a spot in the playoffs.
2. Michigan Wolverines
Jim Harbaugh finally did what we had failed to do in his first five attempts; he beat Ohio State. That put the Wolverines into the Big 10 Championship game and into the playoff talk. If they can win against Iowa on Saturday, the Michigan Wolverines should be in the Final Four.
3. Cincinnati Bearcats
The Bearcats disposed of East Carolina and will now take on Houston in the AAC title tilt. Cincinnati knows that they can’t afford a loss if they want a shot at making the playoffs. Even with a win, it’s still unknown whether or not the committee thinks highly enough of the Bearcats to put them in.
4. Alabama Crimson Tide
It took multiple overtimes for the Alabama Crimson Tide to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Now the Tide will finally get to face Georgia. A win over the Bulldogs in the title game will all but guarantee them a playoff berth. A loss to Georgia will give them two losses on the season, and an unsure feeling of whether or not the committee will let a two-loss team into the playoff hunt.
5. Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Oklahoma State Cowboys beat the Oklahoma Sooners in their annual “Bedlam” game and clinched a spot in the Big 12 title game against Baylor. Mike Gundy knows that his squad needs to win convincingly against Baylor to impress the playoff committee.
6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
After beating Stanford on Saturday, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame now become spectators in the race for a playoff spot. Since they don’t play in a conference, the Irish won’t play any more games. They realize that they need a lot of things to happen in order for them to earn a playoff spot. But with some losses, the Irish could sneak in.
Betting Game of the Week
Baylor will take on Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game. The Cowboys are four-point favorites in this one. We think that the Cowboys need to make a statement to the CFP committee and they’ll win this one by at least two touchdowns. Oklahoma State has one of the best defenses in the country, and they’ll show it off on Saturday.

NCAAF AP Top 25 Poll: Best Ten Teams Betting Options
Previous Betting News
It’s amazing how different the AP Top 25 is from the first College Football Playoff standings. While the top team is the same in both, there are many differences after that. We’re going to break down the top few teams, and then we’ll give one game that we think you can make some money on if you care to place a wager against the NCAAF odds.
NCAAF – Top 25 Analysis and Betting Opportunities
1. Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs sit atop both the AP Poll and the College Football Playoff Standings. After a dominant 34-7 victory over the Florida Gators, it’s hard to imagine that any team left on their regular-season schedule will be able to compete with Georgia. The college football fanbase is hopeful of seeing a Georgia vs. Alabama SEC Title game.
2. Cincinnati Bearcats
While the AP voters gave the Bearcats some love, the CFP Committee did not. Cincinnati was sixth in the initial playoff rankings. The Bearcats know that there is little margin for error the rest of the way and that they need to catch some breaks if they want to get into the playoffs. Their play on the field will speak volumes.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is #3 in this week’s AP Poll, but they’re #2 in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Alabama hosts LSU this weekend, and the Tigers program is in shambles. After losing to Texas A&M, the Tide has looked like a hungry team.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners have some work to do. Even though they’re ranked fourth in the AP Poll, the CFP Committee didn’t agree with the writers. Oklahoma is eighth in the playoff rankings. Even though they’re undefeated, their schedule hasn’t been as tough as some of the other teams ranked ahead of them. Caleb Williams has brought a different dimension to the Oklahoma offense, and they now look like a championship-caliber team.
5. Michigan State Spartans
After their come-from-behind victory over the Michigan Wolverines last Saturday, the world now knows how good Michigan State really is. They have some very tough games remaining, but the Spartans will be up for the task. If the playoffs were tomorrow, they would be the #3 seed. We’ll see if Mel Tucker’s squad can continue on their hot streak.
Betting Game of the Week – LSU Tigers @ Alabama Crimson Tide (-28)
It’s hard to believe that the spread for an Alabama vs. LSU game is 28 points. These two have been two of the top teams in the SEC over the last few seasons. However, the LSU program is in shambles right now, while Alabama is still at the top of the mountain. With it being announced a few weeks ago that Ed Orgeron would be done coaching LSU at the end of the season, everything has gone downhill since. And just when they thought that things couldn’t get worse for the Bayou Bengals, they then have to make a trip to Tuscaloosa.
Bryce Young has gotten better each week, and this week he’ll be facing the 70th-ranked defense in the country. Alabama has so many offensive weapons, and it will be nearly impossible for LSU to stop them. Young and his powerful offense should put up a lot of points on the Tiger defense. Alabama will want to dominate the Tigers, and they’ll win this one by 35.

2022 NCAAF AP Top 25 Betting Options: Preseason Analysis of the Best Ten Teams
Previous Betting News
Just a couple of days ago, ESPN released its final preseason college football poll. ESPN’s poll is a little bit different, as they use metrics to determine the rankings of the teams. Let’s take a look at how the Top 10 were ranked, and we’ll give you a brief analysis of each team so you can plan your bets against their NCAAF Odds.
A Look At the Preseason College Football Top 25 Before 2022-23 Season Starts
10. Tennessee Volunteers
The Vols are predicted to have one of the best offenses in the country. Josh Heupel has brought some excitement back to Tennessee. We’ll see how well their defense holds up against some very strong competition in the SEC.
9. Ole Miss Rebels
Lane Kiffin has a lot of spots to fill, as many of last year’s starters graduated. Kiffin has brought in some very good players. We know that they can score, but will they be able to stop anyone? We’re looking forward to the annual Kiffin vs. Saban matchup.
8. Texas A&M Aggies
Is this finally the year that Jimbo Fisher’s program breaks through? The Texas A&M Aggies have had several good recruiting classes in a row, with this year’s being ranked as the best in the country. It’s time to see how well these talented athletes can play. A&M will have a tough road ahead, but will they be able to beat Alabama is the big question.
7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Marcus Freeman has his work cut out for him. Notre Dame has a very tough schedule, including a date with Ohio State in Week 1.
6. Michigan Wolverines
Jim Harbaugh finally led the Michigan Wolverines to a playoff berth. Even though they were throttled by Georgia, Harbuagh showed everyone that he can be successful in college. The defense lost a lot from last year’s team, but the offense should be stellar. We’ll see how well both of the new coordinators can handle the rigors of the Big 10.
5. Clemson Tigers
After struggling last season, the Tigers will be looking to reclaim their status as the best team in the ACC. If DJ Uiagalelei can play like he did in 2020, Clemson should have a great shot at winning the ACC and getting back into the playoffs.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
We’ll see if Brent Venables can stop some of the Big 12’s potent offenses. Even though they had a lot of players leave with Lincoln Riley, Venables has restocked the shelves with some pretty good replacements.
3. Ohio State Buckeyes
With one of the nation’s best offenses and Jim Knowles now running the defense, it’s hard to imagine the Ohio State Buckeyes not being a playoff team. They’ll have tough games with Notre Dame, Penn State, and Michigan.
2. Georgia Bulldogs
Kirby Smart has a lot of key pieces to replace, but Georgia has a roster full of talent. They’ll have a tough game with Oregon to start the season.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Nick Saban has a loaded roster. The Tide’s defense should be one of the top units in the country, with Will Anderson leading the way. Bryce Young is back, looking to claim a second Heisman Trophy. We should see another Alabama vs Georgia matchup in the SEC Championship.

In Depth Analysis on the 9 Best College Football Bets for 2017
Previous Betting News
While the main bulk of the games in the opening week of college football season do not start until early September, there are a few set to go this month. This is great news for college football fans who are running out of patience waiting for the new season to kick off. It’s also great news for bettors who play the majority of their wagers in the NCAAF. So let’s take a look at those games and make sure to review each one of the NCAAF betting odds available at MyBookie.
In Depth Analysis on the 9 Best College Football Bets for 2017
p>Making predictions is early tough, but I have come up with the 9 best bets for college football season. I considered a number of different formats for this, but decided to choose 1 game from each of the first 9 weeks of the season. Thus, going with games that feature great match-ups, as this would usually mean that good odds will be available.Week 1 – Michigan Wolverines Vs Florida Gators
The current SEC East champions will be heading to Arlington for a neutral site game against a Michigan Wolverines team that has a lot of holes to plug after losing a bunch of great players to the NFL. Florida last season was not impressing, and I don’t see them winning the East again this year. I think Michigan will have reloaded quite nicely, and will come away with the opening week win.
Week 2 – Louisville Cardinals Vs North Carolina Tar Heels
These two teams have locked horns 7 times since the late 80’s, and it Louisville who have a slight 4-3 edge in those games. I think that they are going to be able to improve on that record, as I like Louisville to go on the road and beat the Tar Heels. Heisman winner Lamar Jackson will be back and better than ever, and this team is going to be tough to stop.
Week 3 – LSU Tigers Vs Mississippi State Bulldogs
This is a game where the Tigers should be favorites, but since they are on the road, the odds here might still be quite good. LSU have won 4 of the last 5 against Mississippi State, but the last two have been close, deciding by a total of just 7 points. Watch out for the spread on this one, as it might be another tight affair.
Week 4 – Oklahoma Sooners Vs Baylor Bears
These two teams have split their last 6 meetings, but it has been the point totals in those games that may have set the trend here. The average point total for those games comes in at 71.5, which suggests that we are going to see another high-scoring affair this year. This may be a good game for the OVER bet.
Week 5 – Oklahoma State Cowboys Vs Texas Tech Red Raiders
This is another match-up looking like it will be producing ridiculous scores, and passes the OVER bar, no matter how high it gets set. Their last 4 meetings have eclipsed the 80-point mark, and the 2015 games was particularly stunning, with 123 total points scored. These two love to get into shoot-outs, so shoot for the OVER in this one.
Week 6 – Penn State Nittany Lions Vs Northwestern Wildcats
A lot of folks like Penn State to make it to the college football season playoffs this year, but they have a couple of potential banana peel games along the way, with this being one of them. The Nittany Lions have lost their last two meetings with Northwestern, and while they might be good enough to get over this hurdle this season, perhaps look at the spread for this one, and take the Wildcats to cover.
Week 7 – Arkansas Razorbacks at Alabama Crimson Tide
It’s impossible to know what the spread is going to be for this game, but since Alabama has won 9-straight against Arkansas, I get the sense it will over-inflate. The last couple of meetings have been closer than the previous lot, so look for the Razorbacks to lose, but perhaps keep things close.
Week 8 – Oregon Ducks Vs UCLA Bruins
The Ducks had a down year last season, yet they were still able to extend their win streak over UCLA to 6 games. That streak included wins in their last two visits to California, and while there ae still a lot of question marks about this year’s Ducks team, I think they can hit the road and extend that streak to 7.
Week 9 – Georgia Bulldogs Vs Florida Gators
This is one of the most anticipated college football games each season, as these two teams will make their annual pilgrimage to Jacksonville for a neutral site game. Georgia are the sixth pick in the SEC East, but they will almost certainly need to win this one if they want to be the next champs. I think they can get that win, and I also suggest taking a look at the UNDER.
