NCAAF 2021 Regular Season: Arizona vs Oregon Betting Analysis & Prediction

There has been only one team from the Pac-12 to make it into the College Football Playoff (CFP) in its seven years of existence, and that was in the first year when Oregon shocked Florida State 59-20 in the semifinal and then lost to Ohio State 42-20 in the national championship game. In Week 2, the Ducks got some long-coming revenge when they surprised the third-ranked Buckeyes with a 35-28 road victory to establish themselves as a CFP contender and have since replaced Ohio State at that third spot in the polls.

Arizona has lost 15 games in a row and is coming off an embarrassing 21-19 defeat by FCS Northern Arizona for first-year head coach Jedd Fisch. Who faces a tall task in his attempts to rebuild the Wildcat program. It will take a substantial effort for visiting Arizona to be competitive at one of the toughest places to play in college football. That being said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming  Arizona vs Oregon matchup so you can get ready to bet against their NCAAF odds.

College Football Betting Preview for Arizona Wildcats at Oregon

Arizona Wildcats Betting Preview

The glaring weakness for the Wildcats is their inability to run the football, with Arizona averaging under 80 yards a game and three yards an attempt. The passing game hasn’t been a lot better, with a pair of quarterbacks combining to toss six interceptions, creating a bit of a controversy at the position between Gunner Cruz and Will Plummer.

Defensively, the Wildcats are giving up 193 yards a game on the ground, allowing their opponents to control the ball and making it difficult for Arizona to come from behind, as they’ve had to do almost the entire season. Turnovers have plagued the team in 2021, with Arizona losing three fumbles in addition to the six interceptions, so they’ll need to clean up that aspect of the game to have any chance at raucous Autzen Stadium.

Oregon Ducks Betting Preview

The Ducks need to shore up their pass defense if they want to run the table and get to the CFP. They’re giving up just over 300 yards a game through the air, which Arizona could exploit to make up for the Wildcats’ lack of a running game. Dual-threat quarterback Anthony Brown gives Oregon a lot of balance on offense, with the team averaging 224 yards on the ground and 209 through the air.

The Pac-12 favorites are coming off a 48-7 win over FCS Stony Brook, their last non-conference game before running the gauntlet that the balanced league provides, but they get to avoid Arizona State and USC from the North Division. This could be a little of a trap game for Oregon, especially if Arizona takes care of the football.

Betting Prediction and Pick

Arizona’s loss to San Diego State isn’t looking as bad since the Aztecs stayed undefeated by slipping past Utah 33-31 last week. Oregon hasn’t played great defense, so if Arizona can keep from turning the ball over or give up big plays on special teams, they should be able to keep this one closer than expected.

Prediction: Oregon 34 Arizona 21

Pick: Take the points for Arizona to cover the spread and go with the under.
