Why bet on Colorado State versus #5 Iowa?

In their first couple of games, the Rams struggled. But another look reveals Colorado State played at least one Top 25 team. Losing to Vanderbilt, an SEC squad, at home makes some sense. San Diego State, who beat Colorado State 42-23 in the Rams’ first game, is one of the better teams on the west coast. CSU shouldn’t win this on the moneyline. But they have a big chance of providing a cover victory.

Why bet on #5 Iowa versus Colorado State?

The Hawkeyes haven’t just beaten teams. They’ve dominated. In their first game, Iowa blasted Indiana 34-6 as a -3.5 favorite. Then in their second, the Hawkeyes beat Iowa State 27-17 on the road as a +4 underdog. The 30-7 win over Kent State was another that shows how talented this team is. On their field, Iowa should have no trouble covering the spread versus an overmatched Mountain West team.

#5 Iowa versus Colorado State Final Betting Prediction

The Hawkeyes are one of those defense first Big Ten squads. Iowa doesn’t run a spread offense. Instead, they rely on a giant offensive line to move the pile.

Then, when their opponents have the ball, the Hawkeyes play defense as well as any team in the nation. The Hawkeyes aren’t flashy, which means there’s an outside chance the Rams cover.

But Iowa faces a team that doesn’t score a ton of points. Vanderbilt allows 28.3 per. The Rams scored 21 in a home loss to the Commodores.

It’s doubtful Colorado State scores more than 3 to 7 in this. If that happens, Iowa will cover because the Hawkeyes should score at least 35.
