Why Bet On Rutgers at +20.5?
The Scarlet Knights rolled all over UMass in their emphatic 48-21 season-opening win last weekend despite the fact that quarterback McLane Carter tossed a whopping three interceptions in the win. Carter did pass for 340 yards and two touchdowns while running back Isaih Pacheco rushed 20 times for 156 yards and four scores. The bad news heading into Week 2 is that Rutgers went 1-11 a year ago and has not won a road game since October of 2017.
Why Bet On Iowa at -20.5?
The Hawkeyes smacked Miami (Ohio) around in their opener en route to a convincing 38-14 win over the Redhawks on Saturday. Quarterback Nate Stanley passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns in the win while running back Mekhi Sargent rushed 14 times for 91 yards and one score.
“(Sargent) is more decisive (and) you can see he’s a lot more confident out there,” Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz said. “From the sideline (the run game) looked pretty good. It looked more like what we’re shooting for. I thought all the backs that were in there ran decisively.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction for Rutgers vs Iowa
I like Iowa a lot in 2019 and I believe the Hawkeyes could reach the double-digit win mark after recording nine victories a year ago. Having said that, I just don’t like the high, nearly, three-touchdown spread in this contest. I know Rutgers won only one game last season, but the Scarlet Knights made a habit out of covering the chalk last season by doing so in each of their final six games in 2018.
Iowa might be playing at home and this Week 2 matchup might be a conference clash that the Hawkeyes will be going all-out to win, but I’m going with Rutgers and the points in this one. While the Hawkeyes have gone 2-5 ATS in their last seven games and just 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games, Rutgers has gone a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last 5 conference games, an equally impressive 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and a pristine 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall. I’m feeling a big road cover here, although Rutgers certainly won’t challenge for the outright win!
