NCAAF Season Week 12 ATS Picks Expert Analysis

Written by on November 16, 2020

If you look at the current top 4, you don’t really see very many surprises, except for maybe Notre Dame, but are these the 4 teams that we will see in the playoffs when the committee makes their final decision at the end of the regular season? You would certainly expect Alabama and Ohio State to be there, but the other two spots might well be up for grabs, especially Clemson’s, as they have already dropped a game this season. Given how things have gone this season, it might not be that smart an idea to suggest that any of the current top 4 teams are totally safe and guaranteed a spot. Upsets have happened all year, so it would not be surprising to see one more. For now, let’s focus on our ATS picks for Week 12 so you can bet on their NCAAF odds.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (-6) at Duke Blue Devils

Wake Forest saw their 4-game unbeaten streak come to an end over the weekend in an absolute thriller against the UNC Tar Heels. Wake Forest started that one as a 12 ½ point underdog, but they ended up falling 59-53 in a shootout. While the loss is certainly a disappointment for the Demon Deacons, it proved to be another good week for bettors taking them to cover, as they have now done so in 5 straight games. Duke, on the other hand, were totally blown out in their last game and have now lost 2 of their last 3 games. There are some positive trends to be found when you look at their results against the spread, but I still think that they are in trouble again this weekend. I think Wake Forest covers quite comfortably.

Cincinnati Bearcats (-4 ½) at UCF Knights

If there was ever going to be a season where a team from outside the Power 5 could emerge to claim a playoff spot, this might just be it. If that is indeed going to be the case, then you have to give the Cincinnati Bearcats some love, as they are coming into this weekend as the #7 seed with a perfect 7-0 record. This weekend, they will be on the road to face a UCF Knights team that spent a couple of seasons trying to convince the playoff committee that they were deserving of a top 4 slot. The Knights have taken a big step backward since them and are in as a home underdog here. The Bearcats have covered the spread in each of their last 4 games and should make it 5 in a row with this one.

Tennessee Volunteers at Auburn Tigers (-10)

If both teams were honest, they would both likely admit that this has been a disappointing season to this point. After a good start where they won back to back games to start the season, the Volunteers are now on a run that has seen them lose 4 in a row, whilst also failing to cover the spread in each of those 4 defeats. The Auburn Tigers are in a better position at 4-2 and have steadied the ship after a rocky start, winning 3 of their last 4 outings, including a dominating win over LSU in their last game, which came on Halloween. As far as the spread goes, the Vols are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a SU loss. In games following a week off, the Tigers have covered in 5 of their last 6.
