College football does not have a preseason batch of games like they do in the NFL, with scrimmage games being the closest thing to those warm-up games. One way around this problem is to have a couple of easy game at the start of the season that allows your players to get up to the speed of the game and build up a little confidence in the process. For the lesser teams involved, it’s a nice way to rake in some money that helps keep the athletics program afloat. We have one such game in the opening weekend of the season, with the Southern University Jaguars from the SWAC heading into Fort Worth to face the NCAAF odds favorites TCU Horned Frogs.
This is a game that has all the makings of a horribly one-sided affair, and while it will tell us little about what to expect from TCU in regards their chances for the rest of the season, this is more about getting some meaningful playing minutes for most of the squad.

There really is very little reason to think that the Jaguars can head into Texas and come away with any type of result. In reality, this is probably going to be more of an exercise in damage control than anything else.
