After recording their first double-digit winning season since 2001 and their highest national ranking since 1998, things are looking up for the Syracuse Orange as they get set for the upcoming 2019 college football season.
Better yet, if you’re looking to find out whether the Orange can come close to duplicating their surprising campaign from a year ago in the hopes of cashing in big on their value-packed NCAAF win total odds in the sportsbook, then consider your ticket punched!
Thanks to the expert collegiate football analysis and predictions that you’re about to get, you’re going to have a great idea of just how many victories the ACC national championship longshots are going to win in 2019 and whether they’ll challenge for the national championship. Now, let’s get down to business.

Why Syracuse Will Top Their Win Total Odds?
To get right to the point, there are a bunch of great reasons to back Syracuse to top their win total figure. First, the Orange have an impressive stable of running backs that is led by senior Moe Neal and junior Abdul Adams. Neal averaged a solid 5.6 yards per carry last season while Adams, a transfer from Oklahoma, averaged 9.2 yards per carry as a sophomore at OU.
Then, there’s the fact that Syracuse will have a new quarterback under center in sophomore quarterback Tommy DeVito that is more of a traditional passer that predecessor Eric Dungey.
More importantly, Syracuse s pretty loaded on defense, particularly up front and in the secondary. Senior edge rushers Alton Robinson and Kendall Coleman are both coming off double-digit-sack seasons. Senior corner Chris Fredrick and senior strong safety Evan Foster are both rock-solid and they’ll be joined by second-year corner Trill Williams and free safety Andre Cisco, a player that led the nation in interceptions with seven a year ago while earning All-America honors and being named ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Why Syracuse Won’t Top Their Win Total Odds?
There are also some solid reasons to back the Orange to finish under their win total odds. A change at quarterback and a new, first-time starter under center brings uncertainty. Syracuse needs to find suitable replacements for two starting linebackers and three offensive linemen, including both starting tackles in Cody Conway and Koda Martin. At linebacker, the Orange will be without 2018 seniors Ryan Guthrie and Kielan Whitner, so they’ll be a bit inexperienced at the position even though they do have some talented underclassmen that are expected to step in and contribute in Juan Wallace, Mikel Jones and Lee Kpogba.
Prediction
There’s no sense in beating around the bush with my prediction on Syracuse heading into 2019 seeing as how the Orange have one of the best – and easiest win total odds in the entire nation. If Syracuse can avoid a road upset at Maryland in their second game of the season, they should come out of their opening stretch of games at a healthy 4-1.
While the Orange do have a difficult date at home against Clemson in their third game of the season, I can definitely see the Orange knocking off NC State, Florida State and Louisville and Duke, all on the road. In addition to that, home dates against Wake Forest, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Western Michigan all look like relatively easy matchups the Orange should win. I see no reason why Syracuse can’t approach 10 wins for the second straight season, but even if they don’t get to the double-digit win mark, they’re certainly not bagging less than six wins in 219, making their O/U win total odds one of the easiest picks on the board right now.
I don’t think Syracuse’s fantastic campaign in 2018 was a byproduct of luck and I fully believe the reloaded Orange will have a decent shot of recording 10 wins, making the Over against their 6 ½ win total odds a virtual lock!
