Why Bet on Tennessee?

UT (4-0, 1-0 SEC) is coming off of a 38-28 comeback win over Florida this past week. Down 21 points in the first half, the Vols answered with 38 straight points thanks to a five-touchdown effort by Joshua Dobbs, who ran for a touchdown and threw for career highs of 319 yards and four scores, and Derek Barnett’s (two sacks) second-half defensive surge. After allowing 87 yards rushing and 300 total yards offense in the first half vs. Florida, UT’s defense held the Gators to just 19 yards rushing in the second half. The win snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Gators and tied for the third-largest comeback in program history. UT is on a 10-game winning streak, dating back to 2015, which is the third-longest in the nation and the Vols’ longest since winning 14 straight over the 1998 and 1999 seasons. UT is 4-0 to begin its season for the first time since 2003, and only the seventh time since 1970. Tennessee has won three of its last four games against ranked opponents. The Vols remain without their best cornerback in senior Cam Sutton. The All-SEC cornerback/kick returner suffered a fractured right ankle during the first quarter of Tennessee’s win over Ohio two weeks ago. He might return before the end of the season. Junior Emmanuel Moseley and freshman Baylen Buchanan will start at cornerback in Saturday’s game at Georgia, Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said this week. Junior Justin Martin had a rough start to last week’s come-from- behind win over Florida, and Buchanan entered the game and filled in as well. In other injury news for UT, defensive lineman LaTroy Lewis (high ankle) will play against Georgia after missing the last two games. Linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. (high ankle) will remain sidelined.

Why Bet on Georgia?

The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-1) should play much better than last week’s 45-14 loss at a good Ole Miss team. The Rebels came out firing by putting up 31 points in the first half and the deficit proved to be too large for the Bulldogs to mount another second-half comeback. Ole Miss had 510 total yards (330 through the air and 180 on the ground), while UGA managed 396 total yards with 230 rushing and 166 passing. Bulldogs freshman quarterback Jacob Eason went 16-for- 36 for 137 yards with an interception and a fumble. Junior tailbacks Nick Chubb and Sony Michel added 57 and 66 yards, respectively, on the ground. Chubb, the team’s best player, suffered an ankle injury in the game and might sit this one out. The star tailback’s yardage and carries have decreased each game: From 222 rushing yards on 32 carries against North Carolina, to season-lows of 57 yards on 12 carries at Ole Miss. He’s gone from averaging 6.9 yards per carry in the opener to 3.9 per carry over the next three games. Georgia has trailed in all four of its games this year including three by at least 10 points. In the season opener versus No. 22 North Carolina in Atlanta, the Bulldogs trailed 24-14 at the 6:34 mark in the 3rd quarter and rallied for a 33-24 win. Georgia fell behind 10-0 in the first half at Missouri and came back for a 28-27 victory. For the 14th time in this series, both teams are ranked in the top 25, and the Bulldogs are 5-8 in these ranked matchups. Georgia trails in the all-time series with Tennessee 22-21- 2 as it dates back to 1899. The last four meetings between the teams have been decided by a touchdown or less with one needing overtime. Last time in Athens, the Bulldogs edged the Volunteers 35-32 in 2014.
