Texas A&M Aggies 2023 College Football Season Betting Guide

Texas A&M Aggies 2023 College Football Betting Season

The Texas A&M football team has been more than underwhelming during the Jimbo Fisher era. The Aggies haven’t won more than nine games in a season since he took over in 2018. Last season, Fisher’s highly-regarded recruiting class flopped, finishing 5-7, and wasn’t even bowl-eligible.

This season will be a referendum on Fisher’s tenure with the school. Texas A&M finished in the top four of the Associated Press poll in 2020 when the Aggies finished 9-1 during the pandemic season. This year, Texas A&M will need to pick up wins to save people’s jobs.

If you’re a college football betting enthusiasts that wants to know all about Texas A&M before they take to the gridiron this coming season, then let’s break down Texas A&M Aggies this year. Here’s the preview for your college football betting lines to win the NCAA National Championship.

Can the Aggies’ Quarterbacks Do the Job?

Texas A&M brought in former Louisville and Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino to take over the offense. The Aggies will be looking to choose between sophomore Conner Weigman and LSU transfer Max Johnson to start at quarterback. Weigman showed flashes of potential.

Weigman passed for 896 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Johnson passed for 517 yards and threw three touchdowns last season before missing most of the year with an injury.

Expectations Are Low

Being in the shark tank that is the SEC West Division doesn’t have people hopeful that Fisher and company can turn things around. The Aggies are +1500 to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff and have a win total of 7.5.

Texas A&M’s Schedule is Friendly

The Aggies will only play four road games this season. Texas A&M will have road trips to play Miami (Fla.), Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU. The game against the Tigers will be difficult, as LSU won the West Division during their first season with coach Brian Kelly.

The Volunteers could also be a tough matchup depending on how well Joe Milton can replace Hendon Hooker at quarterback. Texas A&M will also have a neutral site game against Arkansas Sept. 30 at A&T Stadium.

Defense May Hold the Key

The Aggies’ offense wasn’t the best last season, but Texas A&M had a hard time slowing down most opponents. Texas A&M ranked 123rd nationally against the run. The Aggies got a transfer from Jackson State, Jurriente Davis, at linebacker and are hoping former top recruiters Walter Nolen, Shemar Turner, and Shemar Stewart can make plays.

2023 Texas A&M Aggies Season Prediction

Until Texas A&M proves otherwise, the Aggies appear to be a program headed for a major chance. Texas A&M will see a few old Big 12 rivals in Texas, and Oklahoma join the conference last season and will want to try and position itself to be in the arms race to be competitive. The Aggies aren’t there yet, however.

Texas A&M will struggle to get past seven wins in a season that is filled with potential pratfalls against several opponents on the schedule. The Aggies will see Fisher replaced after the season at the latest. If Texas A&M struggles in SEC play, Fisher may not make the end of the year.
