Texas A&M vs LSU Historic Betting Trends

LSU beat Texas A&M last season 19-7 to potentially save Miles’ job as the Tigers entered that regular- season finale on a three-game losing streak. The team carried Miles off afterward. Leonard Fournette broke the program’s 38-year- old single-season rushing record as LSU beat A&M for the fifth straight time. Fournette ran 32 times for 159 yards and a touchdown that put the game out of reach against the Aggies, passing Charles Alexander’s 1977 rushing total of 1,686. Both played 11 games in the regular season. Fournette added a team-high four catches for 43 yards. Freshman running back Derrius Guice put LSU ahead for good, 13-7, with a 50-yard end-around for a touchdown midway through the third quarter. Fournette’s 4-yard touchdown run with 2:50 remaining gave LSU its final margin. Guice finished with 73 yards on 10 carries. The Tigers combined to rush for 244 yards on 47 attempts. LSU had its 35th 200-plus yard rushing game under Miles. LSU has won 25 straight games when rushing for 200 or more yards as a team and the Tigers are 32-3 under Miles when reaching that mark. The Tigers defense carried its offense throughout the game, holding Texas A&M to 250 total yards with four sacks, an interception and two fumble recoveries. “We stalled out,” Sumlin postgame. “We had some long fields, moved the ball and stalled out across the 50-yard line. We really had some issues trying to block them.” Aggies freshman Christian Kirk gained 130 all-purpose yards against the Tigers as he broke the old freshman single season record of 1,542 set by Cyrus Gray in 2008. RB Tra Carson joined an elite club of Aggies who have rushed for 1,000 yards in a single season. He was the 11th Aggie to reach 1,000 and the first since QB Johnny Manziel had 1,410 in 2012. Carson is the first RB to hit 1,000 since Gray had 1,045 in 2011.

At Oklahoma, Knight is best known for leading the Sooners to a Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama as a redshirt freshman, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns en route to MVP honors in the game.
