Texas vs Houston College Football Week 8 Odds & Betting Analysis

The 8th-ranked Texas Longhorns will take to the road and take on the Houston Cougars on Saturday in Big 12 play. This is the first and final time these two teams will meet up as members of the Big 12.

The Longhorns are coming off their bye week, which followed a close loss in the Red River Rivalry to Oklahoma. The Longhorns are 5-1 on the season. Houston is coming off a thrilling Thursday Night win over West Virginia. After giving up the lead late, the Cougars scored on a hail mary as time expired.

The win for the Cougars pushed them to 3-3 on the season. It was also the first Big 12 win for the Cougars. Texas comes into this game as a massive favorite. The Longhorns are listed at -23.5.

Texas Looking to Push the Ball on Offense

The Texas Longhorns scored 30 points in all six games they have played this season. That puts them at 28th in College Football with 35 points per game.

The big story has been their defense, which ranks inside the Top 15 allowing just 16.3 points per game. Texas, on offense, is averaging more than 300 passing yards per game. The run game has been solid as well, with 185.8 per game.

Quinn Ewers is having a big season for the Longhorns. The connection between him and Xavier Worthy is one of the best in all of College Football. They have hooked up 34 times for 453 yards and three touchdowns so far.

Ewers is 296 yards away from 2,000 on the season. Jonathon Brooks is the other stud in the offense for the Longhorns. He has carried the football over 100 times for 726 yards and six touchdowns.

The Longhorns have back-to-back games with BYU and Kansas State after this, before road games at TCU and Iowa State. Texas finishes the regular season at home against Texas Tech.

Stacy Sneed came away with 78 rushing yards in the game. On the season, he has 206 on 37 carries and two touchdowns.

Cougars Still beaming after Hail Mary Win

Dana Holgorson and his Houston Cougars are going to remember their first-ever Big 12 win for a long time. Donovan Smith chucked the ball 49 yards, and Stephon Johnson came down with it for the 41-39 thrilling win. With that pass, Smith is now at 1,600 passing yards on the season and 13 touchdowns.

Houston is known as a passing offense, with more than 276 yards per game. The run game has struggled, as they are 95th in all of College Football. Houston is scoring 29.7 points per game and allowing 31.3. The three losses for Houston this season came on the road at Rice, at home to TCU, and at Texas Tech.

Houston will play at Kansas State and then at Baylor in their next two games.

Texas vs Houston Betting Prediction | Longhorns Smack Cougars

The Texas Longhorns are chomping at the bit to get back into action. Texas knows they have their back to the wall now with the lone loss on the season to get to the College Football Playoff.

The Longhorns now have their minds on getting to the Big 12 title game and getting another shot at the Sooners. One game at a time. The Houston Cougars are in their way in this one.

Houston is just average at best and will have a tough time competing with a motivated Longhorns team.

The final bet for this game is going to be Texas. Bet the Longhorns -23.5 over the Cougars.
