3 Reasons to Bet Against Georgia in College Football Playoff

Top College Football SU Picks Of The Week (Oct. 1)

Written by on September 28, 2016

That’s right college football betting lines enthusiasts, three is still a magic number thanks to the trio of expert SU picks that you’re about to get on three Week 5 college football matchups! With that said, let’s get started!

A Closer Look At The Top College Football SU Picks Of The Week (Oct. 1)

No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers (4-0) at No. 25 Georgia Bulldogs (3-1)

When: Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 3:30 PM
Where: Sanford Stadium
TV: CBS
NCAAF Odds: Georgia Bulldogs +3.5

Analysis:
Georgia Bulldogs might be playing at home and they might be getting points as home dogs, but I don’t see any way they can win this game of cover the spread against a Tennessee team that is basically better than they are in all three phases of the game. Tennessee has the big edge at quarterback, head coach and defense and that should be more than enough to help the Vols get the SU win and narrow ATS cover.

Now, I know the Volunteers aren’t elite title contenders, but they can put points on the board in a hurry while Georgia’s offense reminds me of slow drying paint. The Bulldogs are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and an identical 2-6 ATS in their last eight SEC games.

Conversely, Tennessee is 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 6-1 ATS in their last seven SEC games and a near-perfect 5-1 ATS in their last six road games against Georgia. I’m going with the Vols to win and cover!

My Pick: Tennessee 31 Georgia 27

Arizona at UCLA

When: 10:30 PM ET, Saturday, October 1, 2016
Where: Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California
NCAAF Odds: UCLA -12

Analysis:
I thoroughly enjoyed the way UCLA put the clamps on Stanford’s Christian McCaffery last weekend before collapsing late and I believe the Bruins are the pick to get the home win over Arizona in this contest. However, UCLA is offensively-challenged despite having a fine young quarterback in Josh Rosen and I just don’t see them pulling away from Arizona to beat them by 11 points.

I know the Wildcats are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall, but hell. UCLA hasn’t been any better in going 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall.

The bottom line for this Week 5 matchup is that Arizona and UCLA are really evenly matched and this point spread should be much closer to a field goal than double digits. I say, back the Arizona Wildcats to cover the spread with room to spare!

My Pick: UCLA 24 Arizona 20

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-3) at Syracuse Orange (2-2)

When: Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 12:00 PM
Where: MetLife Stadium
TV: ESPN
NCAAF Odds: Syracuse Orange +12

Analysis:
The Syracuse Orange are my pick to cover the college football betting line in this Week 5 matchup, though I don’t see them winning outright. The Orange are 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record. Notre Dame has gone 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games and an identical 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall,

Syracuse is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven games in October and an identical 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. Despite their woes this season, I do like the Fighting Irish to win outright. However, the ATS cover goes to Syracuse.

My Pick: Notre Dame 31 Syracuse 21
