Top College Football Games to Bet On This Week 3

While we are just 2 weeks into the season in college football, it is already clear that there are some serious contenders for the National Championship out there.

It is certainly no real surprise that a couple of those teams are in the SEC, with both Georgia and Texas very much looking like the real deal.

My Analysis of Top College Football Games to Bet On This Week

There is still plenty of time remaining for some other teams to signal their intent, and with a 12-team playoff coming our way this season, things do seem to be a little more forgiving.

We are not looking too far ahead, though, as our focus here is on Week 3, and specifically the games on the schedule that we like the look of.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at 4 matchups that are catching our eye.

Arizona Wildcats +230 at Kansas State Wildcats -295

Friday, September 13, 8:00 PM, FOX | This one is set for Friday night and is a great way to kick off the weekend. Both teams have started the season with a perfect 2-0 record, and both are now currently sitting in the top 25 in the nation.

A win here for either team could potentially mean a nice move up the rankings, but who will prevail? The obvious answer is that Arizona has the edge by being at home, but the bookies have them in as the underdog for this one.

Either way, this is an opportunity to get a conference win for both teams, which would be a great start to the season.

Alabama Crimson Tide -800 at Wisconsin Badgers +520

Saturday, September 14, 12:00 PM, FOX | For a little while last weekend, things did not look particularly good for Alabama, as they found themselves in an all too tight battle with the USF Bulls.

They did eventually pull away and get a 42-16 win, but that score is certainly not indicative of how the overall game went.

The Tide are a big favorite again this weekend, but make no mistake about it, this is a tricky little road trip to face a Wisconsin team that has won both their games thus far, albeit against weaker opposition.

Could they cover the 16-point spread the bookies have on the board?

Boston College Eagles +530 at Missouri Tigers -800

Saturday, September 14, 12:45 PM, SEC Network | One of the biggest surprise results in the early going of the season was Boston College beating Florida State 28-13 in Week 1.

It would have been easy for this team to get a little too comfortable after a victory of that magnitude, but they followed that win with a total beatdown on Duquesne in Week 2, which moved them into the top 25.

They have a much tougher proposition this weekend, though, against the #6 ranked Missouri Tigers, a team that is looking to challenge Georgia in the SEC East.

This will be a good benchmark for both teams.

Georgia Bulldogs -3030 at Kentucky Wildcats +1125

Saturday, September 14, 7:30 PM, ABC/ESPN | There are a lot of fans and pundits who have already declared their belief that Georgia is the best team in the nation right now.

The Dawgs have certainly looked the part in the opening couple of weeks, especially with their hammering of Clemson in their season opener.

What makes this one so interesting is that Georgia will be up against a familiar face, with former Bulldogs QB Brock Vandagriff starting for the Wildcats.

The Dawgs are still very clear favorites to win their first SEC game, but this matchup will be fun to watch.

2024 Top 5 Games Week 2

A wild Week 1 of the college football season is in the books, but there is no time to wallow in defeat or bask in the glory of a win, as the next game on the schedule always come around quickly.

What we learned from Week 1 is that Florida State is in real trouble, the Georgia Bulldogs look as good as advertised, and that the battle for playoff spots is going to be a ton of fun to watch this season.

My Analysis of Top 5 College Football Games to Bet On This Week

After opening against some bigger teams, many of the top teams are going against smaller schools this weekend, but we do still have some good games to look forward to in Week 2, so let’s get to it.

^

Texas Longhorns -330 at Michigan Wolverines +255

Make no mistake about it, this is the top game on the Week 2 schedule. Texas will almost certainly be thinking about the big games to come in the SEC, but few will be as big as this one, even though it is out of conference.

The Longhorns rolled in Week 1, as expected, while the Wolverines required some effort to finally put Fresno away.

A win for either team here is going to look very good on the resume.

Baylor Bears +450 at Utah Utes -649

We don’t always get conference games this early in the season, but this looks to be an excellent Big 12 matchup.

Baylor opened their season with a comfortable win, as did the Utes, but it is Utah that many people expect to be in the hunt for a playoff spot this season.

They come in as the #11 ranked team in the nation and will be looking to burst their way into the top 10, which they might just do with a win here.

Iowa State Cyclones +112 at Iowa Hawkeyes -137

Everyone loves a rivalry game, and we have a beauty coming our way in Week 2.

The Cyclones will take the short trip across the state to face the Hawkeyes, as they look to build on their opening week win.

The Hawkeyes also won in Week 1, but the reality is that both teams opened the season against much weaker opponents, so this is going to feel like the first real test of the season for both.

Kansas Jayhawks -220 at Illinois Fighting Illini +175

Another good one here, with both teams looking to build on a solid start to the season after dominating wins in Week 1.

Kansas comes into this game ranked in the #19 spot, and while there are certainly bigger games on the horizon, a road win against Illinois is still a result that would be looked upon favorably by the playoff committee.

The same rules apply for Illinois, who might be looking at a top 25 spot with the win here.

Tennessee Volunteers -310 at NC State Wolfpack +240

Both of these teams come into Week 2 sitting in the top 25 teams in the nation, and both could potentially move up the rankings with a win in this one.

Tennessee is a team that many see as a dark horse and a potential challenger in the SEC East, and a win here might well back that up.

The Wolfpack found themselves in a battle in Week 1 before coming away with the win over Western Carolina.

They will need to be a lot better this Saturday.
