Analyzing The Trio Of Matchups Highlight For Week 10 College Football ATS Picks

UConn at Temple

When: Friday, November 4, 2016 at 7:00 PM ET
Where: Rentschler Field
TV: ESPN2
Odds: Temple -10.5

Analysis:
The Temple Owls (6-3 SU, 8-1 ATS) have won three straight games and looked fantastic in rolling all over Cincinnati 34-13 last weekend as quarterback P.J. Walker completed 12 of 19 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns.

The UConn Huskies (3-6 SU, 3-6 ATS) have lost three in a row and come into this Week 10 matchup off a humbling 41-3 blowout against East Carolina last weekend. UConn was outgained 430-295 yards and turned the ball over three times. Now, the Huskies are looking at another humbling loss against a Temple team that is playing its best football of the season right now. If you didn’t know it, the Owls also have one of the best coaches in all of college football right now in Vern Rhule and have a decided edge in talent over Connecticut.

Temple averages solid 33.7 points per game (40th) while limiting the opposition to just 22.6 points per game defensively (34th). UConn averages just 18.3 points per game (125th) while giving up a generous 27.5 points per game defensively (65th). To make matters worse for the Huskies, Temple has gone 7-0 ATS over their last seven games, 6-3 ATS over their last nine road games and a near-perfect 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games against UConn. Temple wins and covers the spread with room to spare!

Pick: Temple 35 UConn 20

Pittsburgh at Miami

When: Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 12:30 PM ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium
TV: ACC Network
Odds: Miami -3.5

Analysis:
The Pittsburgh Panthers (5-3 SU, 3-5 ATS) had their three-game winning streak snapped in their heartbreaking 39-36 loss to Virginia Tech last weekend but managed to cover the spread as a 3.5-point underdog.

The Miami Hurricanes (4-4 SU, 4-4 ATS) are mired in a bad slump right now having lost four consecutive games and comes into this Week 10 matchup off a narrow 30-27 loss against Notre Dame last weekend while narrowly failing to cover the spread as a 2.5-point underdog. For this Week 10 showdown, I’m going to urge you to back the Pittsburgh Panthers to get the win and narrow ATS cover, mostly because Miami is totally out of synch right now and Pittsburgh is playing its best football of the season despite losing last weekend.

Both teams have impressive quarterbacks in Pittsburgh’s Nathan Peterman and Miami’s Brad Kaaya, but for me, Peterman is better at not turning the ball over. While Miami has the far better statistical defense, the Hurricanes are struggling mightily right now by allowing at least 30 points in each of their last two games while not scoring more than 19 points in three of their last four games. Pittsburgh is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games on the road while Miami has gone 1-4 ATS in its last five games. Pittsburgh wins outright to cover the spread!

Pick: Pittsburgh 35 Miami 31

Oregon State at Stanford

When: Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 3:30 PM ET
Where: Stanford Stadium
TV: FS1
Odds: Stanford -14.5

Analysis:
The Stanford Cardinal (5-3 SU, 5-3 ATS) bounced back from their pitiful Week 8 loss to Colorado to beat the hell out of Arizona in their 34-10 win last weekend while easily covering the spread as a 3.5-point favorite. The Oregon State Beavers (2-6 SU, 5-3 ATS) put up a great effort but ended up on the wrong end of a crushing 35-31 loss against Washington State last weekend, although they easily covered the spread as a 14-point underdog.

For this Week 10 Pac-12 pairing, the Stanford Cardinal are the easy pick to win and cash in against an Oregon State team that has been limited to 17 points or less in three of their last five games. Oregon State has a mediocre defense that gives up a whopping 32.6 points per game, which should allow Stanford to have another offensive performance like the one they just did against Arizona.

Stanford has won six straight and seven of the last 10 meetings against Oregon State while winning the last two meetings by at least 18 points. I know Stanford isn’t the same powerful tem they’ve been the last couple of seasons, but the Cardinal still have an elite defense that limits the opposition to just 19.0 points per game (18th).  Oregon State is 8-17 ATS in its last 25 games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games against Stanford while the Cardinal are 18-7 ATS in their L/25 games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home dates. I’m fully expecting the Cardinal to shut down the Beavers en route to the emphatic home win!

Pick: Stanford 31 Oregon State 17
