The Bruins recorded an emphatic 40-24 upset over 20th-ranked California as quarterback Josh Rosen completed 34 of 47 passes for 399 yards and three touchdowns. UCLA senior kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn nailed a school record 60-yard field goal just before the half to highlight the victory. Fairbairn’s 55-yard field goal was nullified by a false-start penalty that pushed the Bruins 5 yards back at the end of the first half on Thursday, prompting Bruins head coach Jim Mora to re-think a 60-yard attempt. “I was going to put the offense out there and try a Hail Mary,” Mora said. “But Jerry (Neuheisel) said, ‘He’s got it.”Fairbairn stepped up and nailed the 60-yard attempt to give the Bruins a 26-10 lead at the half they would never relinquish. His 399 passing yards against the Bears were also a school record for a true freshman. “Josh played well,” Mora said, “and I thought our offensive line was great.” UCLA’s defense sacked elite Cal quarterback Jared Goff five times. The Bruins average 35.6 points per game (31st) while allowing 27.1 points per contest defensively (72nd).

Colorado Buffaloes (4-4 SU, 2-5-1 ATS)

The Buffaloes limited Oregon State to just three points over the final three quarters to record a solid 17-13 win while covering the NCAAF betting line as a 1-oint road dog. Quarterback Sefo Liufau completed 16 of 23 passes for 140 yards and one touchdown while rushing 18 times for 44 yards and the Buffaloes’ only other touchdown. The Buffaloes average 29.8 points per contest (65th) while allowing just 25.8 points per game defensively (57th). The Buffaloes have recorded 19 sacks, four fumble recoveries, and 10 interceptions coming into this contest.

My Expert Game Analysis and Picks:

63 percent of the betting public likes UCLA to cover the huge spread against Colorado, but I’m going with the 37 percent that likes Colorado, mostly because I think the Buffaloes’ defense will keep this game from getting too far out of hand. I know Colorado s just 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games, but UCLA is a winless 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous contest. I like the Buffalos to cover!
